Transition week in MI

We have had a fantastic few days in MI for transition week. On Monday we watched the clip ’WING’ This clip allowed us to explore different themes including bullying, friendship, disability, kindness and friendship. We linked this to our be kind howl and explored the clip in detail. From here we looked in more detail at bullying and we explored different anti bullying slogans and what they aim to do. We used one anti bullying slogan in particular to think of vocabulary that comes to mind when we see it. We found that alot of these linked to what we see in a good friend. From here we used our language bank to create our own jigsaw piece. Our jigsaw piece included 3 words that we expect a good friend to hold, 1 piece of language we had created and then pictures to show our likes, this was so we could get to know others a little more. Here are our finished jigsaw pieces.

We then moved onto looking at more of the negative language that comes with bullying. We looked at another anti bullying slogan and worked in mini crews to build language. We then put ourselves in the shoes of a victim of bullying and created our own poem.

Here you can see some of the work from our parents stay and engage session…

Crew MI morning with parents

It has been so lovely to welcome parents in to our crew this morning. Crew MI have created posters about themselves to display on our door for September.

We’ve also had enjoyed our maths lesson this morning where we recapped our methods for short and long multiplication and played a board game. It was tricky when we landed on a challenge square but we worked together as mini crews to solve them.

A carousel of maths in MI

Before we started transition week, we got to work on some times tables practise. We took part in a carousel of activities including bingo with Mrs McClare, rapid recall of all our times tables, times tables rockstar work and a number card game. We worked against a timer, pushing ourselves whilst concentrating on each task. Great work Crew MI 🙂

Desert fun in MI

Today we made 2 deserts, a healthy take on a muffin and a cookie. Once we had followed our recipe and made both deserts, we looked at which ingredients were included in each recipe and thought about which one was the healthiest. We also thought back to the food groups we had previously discussed. We really did enjoy eating these today! Tomorrow we will make our healthy pancakes which will be the final part of our cooking week.

KS2 Sports day

KS2 Sports day:

Gates will open at 9:00am and close at 9:10am.

Children will go round the carousel of activities in their teams to try and earn the most points.

At the end of the sports day, children will sit in their teams on the grass for the winner to be announced, and parents can spectate this on the muga pitch. Children will then walk past for a last goodbye before entering back into school. The gate will be opened for parents at 11:30am.

There will be a barrier that parents are not allowed past, in order to keep our children safe and keep the activities moving.

Thank you for your continued support

James Dasaolu Visit (4.7.22) 🏃🇬🇧

Carcroft was lucky to have a visit from the second fastest man in Britain – James Dasaolu. We were lucky to hear about the journey James took to reach the top of his sport and even compete at two Olympic Games.

James was very inspiring as he spoke about his lows and how it motivated him to reach the highs, which led to him setting the second fastest time in British history for the 100m. He ran a staggering 9.91 seconds, which was the equivalent of 25mph.

The children listened amazingly well and were hanging on James’ every word. They loved asking a variety of questions and some were unique, which James had never been asked before. After the the questions, each year group was lucky to have a circuit training session with James. He definitely put Years 1 to 6 through their paces.

We will be handing out the gold, silver and bronze awards when we receive them in due course. This should be soon.
