Performance Poetry

Today, we kicked off our poetry unit with an inspiring session watching the legendary Michael Rosen perform. After analyzing his iconic style, we built a performance toolkit to sharpen our own skills. We spent the rest of the lesson rehearsing in pairs, fine-tuning our delivery to ensure our upcoming performances are just as captivating.

Published Books!

Today in Crew Colclough, we were super proud of ourselves as we reached the final part of the writing process. We were able to become authors and illustrators, publishing our very own books! We can’t wait to share them with the school community, parents, and carers on Monday. Well done for your hard work—I know how proud you are.

Carcroft Crowned Cricket Champions

Last week, our Year 3/4 girls’ cricket team took part in a Girls’ Cricket Competition and delivered an outstanding performance throughout. Demonstrating excellent crew work, determination and skill, the team progressed brilliantly and were crowned champions, proudly bringing home the trophy. An incredible achievement – well done to all involved!

Publishing our stories!

Crew Colclough have been working incredibly hard on writing their own versions of ‘The Journey Home’. They have changed the characters to other endangered animals and were able to explain why those animals had to leave their habitat. We are now publishing our final drafts and creating our own books. Pupils are so excited to share their stories and the beautiful work they have produced.

Exploring atlases and globes

This morning in year 4, we have explored how to use globes and atlases in our expedition lesson. We learnt how to look for different continents using the contents page of an atlas, how to use the index to find more specific information such as countries, towns and cities, and how to find continents and countries on a globe. We then compared the differences between globes and atlases, and found that atlases are easier to use as they give you more support in finding specific information.

Decomposition, coding and debugging

Today in Crew Colclough, we have been learning about decomposition in computing. We’ve learnt how this means breaking a big task down into smaller chunks to make it more manageable. We demonstrated our understanding through turning our brains into computers and breaking big tasks down into smaller tasks to make them more manageable and to solve the problems that we have been set.
