Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Today, our Lower Key Stage 2 adventurers had an unforgettable, action-packed day at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park! The children were thrilled to get up close with an incredible array of animals, from cheeky meerkats and majestic lions to towering giraffes and even magnificent polar bears.

A real highlight of the day was an exclusive, hands-on workshop led by one of the park’s expert rangers. The children became polar bear experts themselves, learning all about how these amazing creatures live and how the park cares for them. It was a fantastic day of learning outside the classroom.

Chapter One Celebration!

In Crew Colclough, we celebrated the end of Chapter One book clubs. All pupils attended a session with the author Gareth P Jones. Well done for all your hard work this year with Chapter One! Pupils loved asking him a range of questions.

Performance Poetry

Today, we kicked off our poetry unit with an inspiring session watching the legendary Michael Rosen perform. After analyzing his iconic style, we built a performance toolkit to sharpen our own skills. We spent the rest of the lesson rehearsing in pairs, fine-tuning our delivery to ensure our upcoming performances are just as captivating.

Published Books!

Today in Crew Colclough, we were super proud of ourselves as we reached the final part of the writing process. We were able to become authors and illustrators, publishing our very own books! We can’t wait to share them with the school community, parents, and carers on Monday. Well done for your hard work—I know how proud you are.

Carcroft Crowned Cricket Champions

Last week, our Year 3/4 girls’ cricket team took part in a Girls’ Cricket Competition and delivered an outstanding performance throughout. Demonstrating excellent crew work, determination and skill, the team progressed brilliantly and were crowned champions, proudly bringing home the trophy. An incredible achievement – well done to all involved!

Publishing our stories!

Crew Colclough have been working incredibly hard on writing their own versions of ‘The Journey Home’. They have changed the characters to other endangered animals and were able to explain why those animals had to leave their habitat. We are now publishing our final drafts and creating our own books. Pupils are so excited to share their stories and the beautiful work they have produced.
