The children really enjoyed doing a bit of body percussion. They learned lots of different moves to each piece of music and then keeping it to the rhythm.

Carcroft Celebrates Walk and Wheel Challenge 2026, we won!
Carcroft School was delighted to welcome Olympic medal-winning cyclist Ed Clancy and the Bikeability team for a fantastic day of cycling activities, after we worked so hard during last year’s Walk and Wheel Challenge!
Our children had the opportunity to take part in exciting cycling sessions, build their confidence and learn more about the importance of cycling safely. Meeting Ed Clancy, a three-time Olympic gold medallist, was a brilliant opportunity to be inspired by someone who has achieved so much in the world of cycling!
The sessions helped promote active lifestyles, road safety and cycling as a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly way to travel. It was wonderful to see our children getting involved, developing new skills and enjoying such a memorable experience.
A huge thank you to Ed and the entire Bikeability team for visiting Carcroft and helping to make the day so special. We are incredibly grateful for this fantastic opportunity and the lasting memories created for our children.
What a brilliant way to celebrate all of the children’s effort, walking and wheeling to school!

Festivals so far…
In year 1 and 2, we have been learning about different festivals and how they are celebrated.
Christians celebrate Harvest festival which is a time to thank God for all that he provides. People bring fruit, vegetables and other food items to their church service. In addition to this, they will donate toiletries and cleaning supplies. All of these items will then be donated to others less fortunate.
Jewish people celebrate Sukkot which is when they remember Moses and his time in the desert. Moses freed the Israelites from slavery and then wandered the desert for 40 years until God showed them their promised land. Jews will build shelters where they’ll pray, eat and sometimes sleep.
Next we learned about the Muslim festival of Eid which is celebrated at the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset for approximately 30 days. They fast as a way of showing their commitment to their faith and also helps to build compassion for others. Children have a calendar similar to an advent calendar but instead of chocolate they’ll have challenges or opportunities to help others.
Today, we have learned about Diwali which is known as the festival of light. This is a festival celebrated by Hindu’s and Sikh’s. During this festival, they will decorate their homes, make candles, cook and buy sweet treats. This is a time for them to think about the year ahead and to remember the story of Rama and Sita where good triumphed over evil.
Number Of The Day!
Year One have launched a Number Of The Day activity this week and are loving it! We form, write and represent our number on our cards and play games to learn all about our number. Here we are displaying our work proudly.
Exploring Books!
In Crew Ramsay, we have been exploring books and our reading corner this week! The children have been trying to earn their rainbow challenge stick through sharing stories and choosing books by looking at the blurb and front cover. Here we are reading for pleasure with our friends!

1st October Fun Day
To celebrate an absolutely amazing start to the school year, we have decided to have a little bit of fun on Thursday 1st October.
Children are invited to come to school in their brightest outfits with wacky hair!
The afternoon, will be an afternoon of fun and games!
At lunchtime, Relish have organised a party packed lunch for us to enjoy. All children who have a school dinner on that day will receive a raffle ticket, entering them into a prize draw with prizes to be won!
Harvest Festival
Last week in RE, Year 1 and 2 learned about the Harvest Festival and the importance of this to the community. We started by thinking of the things that we are thankful for before exploring what the Christian church do during Harvest festival. We learned that they have donations to the church which they then donate to others who are less fortunate or just need a helping hand.
This led on to this weeks lessons where we learned about Sukkot which is the Jewish celebration of Harvest. The Jewish people celebrate takes place in September or October depending on the Hebrew calendar. They build shelters which they pray, eat and even sleep in as a way to remember the story of Moses and his people in the desert.
Mastering The Rekenreks!
We have been mastering our norms for using the rekenreks in Crew Ramsay including; reds ready to go, fast maths eyes and 1 bead push! We are getting better and better at making numbers with one push! Crew Ramsay LOVES Maths.
