LKS2 have had a fantastic week immersing themselves in our new text ‘The lion and the unicorn’. Pupils have enjoyed reading an extract from the book to help build fluency. We have also been identifying different question types.

Across LKS2, we have began to make our poppies as part of our final product. We will be selling these at the beginning of November to raise funds for the Royal Legion. We will also be asking families to join us for our Remembrance Day assembly.

A huge congratulations to Louie and Nandi, our newly appointed Change Makers in Crew Colclough! Every pupil did a fantastic job preparing and delivering their speeches, articulating with confidence why they would excel in the role. We are so proud of everyone’s hard work, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact Louie and Nandi will make. Well done!

Yesterday, pupils fully immersed themselves in our new expedition, “Lest We Forget: How Does War Change Lives?”, during an engaging Hook Day. Step back in time, the children dressed as World War II evacuees and tackled a series of hands-on challenges: deciphering secret messages in Morse code, crafting authentic diary entries, and taking on a 20-minute STEM challenge to engineer paper bridges strong enough to hold a toy tank. It was an inspiring start to a powerful unit of learning.

Crew Colclough had an absolutely fantastic time completing the Tough Mudder this morning! Everyone showed incredible courage, tackling every muddy obstacle with a massive smile and an unstoppable attitude. It wasn’t just about crossing the finish line; it was about the way the crew stuck together, cheered each other on, and refused to let the mud slow them down. We are so incredibly proud of their resilience, teamwork, and grit. Massive congratulations to the whole crew—you absolutely smashed it!

Year 4 kicked off the new academic year with an exciting trip to Austerfield! In Crew this week, our guiding question has been, “How do we work as a team to achieve an end goal?”—and our time at Austerfield really challenged us to dig deep and find the answer. Through a mix of orienteering challenges and team-building games, the children showed incredible determination and collaboration. As a well-deserved reward for all their hard work, they even got to meet some of the amazing animals that reside at the center! It was a fantastic day of growth, teamwork, and fun.
