STIK inspired artwork

Today we created some beautiful artwork for our final product based on the British graffiti artist STIK.

To start we did a gallery walk to critique his artwork. We then did several drafts before doing our final designs.

During today’s activity, the children participated in a rainbow ribbon dance session. Each child received a ribbon and followed along with an instructional video to work on their hand-eye coordinationThe children loved waving their ribbons.

What is play?

We have enjoyed our first few lessons of our new expedition.

Today we unpicked what play is. We talked about how play can take lots of different forms such as imaginative and individual. Most of all we agreed that play should be fun!.

This is the definition of play that some of our crew came up with together.

“Play is when we have fun with our friends. We are kind and respectful to others. We can be a crew when we play together.”

We then went on to produce some beautiful work all about what play is.

Great work CrewRobson

Fabulous Fieldwork on Friday!

To conclude Hook Week we embarked on fieldwork to Cusworth Hall to explore the historic house, learn more about toys and continue to reflect on how we play.

We love taking part in the Gnome Trail and were extremely lucky that Eila’s Mum was able to run a workshop and give us the opportunity to play with some of the museums toys.

I was very impressed with HoWLs today too. Well done Crew Robson!

Hook Week In KS1!

This week we have been trying to guess what our autumn expedition will be! We have had experts with old toys visiting our school, a play afternoon to showcase our favourite toys and a fieldwork trip to Cusworth Hall Museum. Here we are getting hooked on expeditionary learning! We would like to say a special thank you to our visitors and experts for all of your generosity this week. Also, a massive thank you to our volunteer helpers Mrs T and Blue for coming on our trip and Eila’s mum for your toy workshop at Cusworth Hall! We are so grateful for your acts of kindness in bringing this Hook Week alive.

Gingerbread Man

In writing, the children have been learning all about The Gingerbread Man. Throughout the week, they have been busy making their own gingerbread men, creating a large gingerbread man and even making the fox!

Take a peep at what they have been up to this week and see all the wonderful learning they have been enjoying!
