Crucial Crew is an interactive personal safety and crime-prevention educational programme designed for Year 6 pupils across South Yorkshire. Managed by South Yorkshire Police in partnership with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and local safety organisations, the scheme is hosted at the purpose-built Lifewise Centre in Rotherham.
Set within a realistic, film-set environment—complete with a mock courtroom, street scene, bus, and household settings—pupils navigate practical, scenario-based role-play activities. These immersive workshops equip 10- and 11-year-olds with vital life skills as they prepare for the transition to secondary school, covering critical topics such as road, fire, and water safety, digital awareness, anti-social behaviour, and the legal responsibilities of growing up.
By offering hands-on, memorable learning experiences, Crucial Crew empowers young people to recognize risks, make informed decisions, and navigate real-world situations safely as they gain greater independence.
