Harry Saves the Ocean – F2 outdoor provision

Take a look at some of the fantastic learning we have been completing in our choosing time this week! We have been looking at the story of ‘Harry Saves the Ocean’ and discussing sea creatures, plastic pollution and everything related to the sea. We cooked up a storm in the mud kitchen, weighing out or ingredients at the sea front restaurant, taking orders from the customers, giving them change when they paid, and making sure they had great service. We drew sea creatures on the playground, made submarines, ‘polluted’ the water tray, and used the den building and construction materials to create sea creatures such as jellyfish and whales!

Mastering Number in F2

During maths this week, we have been looking at using our subitising skills in increasingly complex arrangements. We looked at arrangements of 6 and how we can use our knowledge of number bonds to 6, and our skills of subitising to 5, to help us to identify the number represented. We worked together to decide whether an arrangement was 6 or not 6, and then we used counters to replicate the pattern, before explaining how we knew the pattern showed 6, by identifying known patterns within.

Flat Stanley

Crew McGlone have been enjoying the story ‘Flat Stanley’ in their writing lessons. We have enjoyed getting to know the story, whilst working on our oracy skills. We took key events from the story and created verbal sentences to describe what was happening in each image. We thought about our sentence, before then ‘nesting’ our idea. We then shared this with our talk partner before Miss McGlone chose children to share their sentences to the rest of the crew.
