Crew MI 7.7.22 Pancakes…

We’ve been cooking again today. Today, we really enjoyed making healthy pancakes. We worked in groups and took it in turns to measure and mix the ingredients. When the mixture was ready, we each made our own pancake and had it with fruit and yoghurt. Delicious!

EYFS Summer Expedition Celebration.

Today at the Summer Fair you might have come across Ms Kelly and Mrs Rafter selling delicious ice creams. As part of our expeditionary learning the children were to research seaside foods and holiday favourites. We loved learning about ice creams!

After strenuous taste testing of different flavour ice creams and toppings. The children across EYFS decided the winning flavour to be sold at the summer fair would be ”Strawberry” topped with rainbow sprinkles and strawberry sauce. 🍦

We hope you agreed with our choice and enjoyed them as much as we did. 😋

Here is the video of all our learning. It really has been an amazing term!

New recruits for Crew Carcroft!

Today we invited the children who will be starting school in September to enjoy a soft play session. We listened to our favourite nursery rhymes while climbing, reaching, building and balancing on the equipment. We made new friends and loved talking about our favourite toys during milk and fruit.

Soup making!

Today during DT, we made our own tomato soup… from scratch! We followed the recipe and worked as mini crews to prepare the food before we began cooking. We were really patient with each other showing great HOWLs all morning.

Food labels – Can we identify the healthy options?

As part of our learning, we have explored the labels on food packaging. We have learned about the traffic light colouring which helps us make healthier options when buying food. We had a go at ranking the foods from most healthy to least healthy. Some children were shocked by some foods they though were okay but they are actually really high in sugar.

Massive shoutout to Millie, who has brought us in loads of food packaging (pretty much a weeks worth of packaging) and to the other children who contributed some food packets. I love how Crew Shields are always willing and eager to bring in resources from home to support the learning in class while also taking the pressure off myself to find everything. This is most definitely what crew is all about! 💖

Pancakes – the end of our cooking journey

Over this week we have cooked a starter, main and some healthy dessert options. Today, we have enjoyed some pancakes as we discussed that everything should be eaten in moderation so we’ve had pancakes with maple syrup and raspberries.

As with everything else we’ve baked this week, we’ve had a gluten free pancakes today. We actually preferred the gluten free option. It has really surprised us that in most cases we have enjoyed the gluten free version.

Crew Welburn’s new toy!

We have received a new device in Crew Welburn which we are absolutely loving! It is called a yoto and we use it to listen to our favourite stories and songs. So far, we have listened to ‘Funnybones’, ‘The Highway Rat’ and ‘Animal Stories’. We have listened carefully and acted out parts of the stories with funny actions. We can’t wait to explore all of the other stories we have!

Cookies – Yum

Crew Shields have further developed their baking skills by baking some low calorie cookies. We also made a batch of gluten free cookies. Surprisingly, we all preferred the gluten free cookies.

Crew Shields are always happy when there is some kind of food involved in their day. 😋
