And off we go… Thackray Museum

Y4 have been working hard on their jar toppers, they have worked hard to make sure their design looks like Andy Warholl’s artwork.
On Friday (1st July), the children will need to bring shorts and t-shirt that they can get wet in the pool, in addition to their costumes. This lesson is to focus on safety and how to swim when potentially wearing clothing other than their swimming costumes.
Please remember to also have dry clothes to change into after swimming.
Thank you – Year 5 Crew
Our Crew pledge has been to challenge ourselves in all lessons so it was lovely to see most children attempting the spicy challenge in Maths and moving on to problem solving and reasoning. Well done Crew Shields
Today in Crew Welburn, we have been exploring place value to 100. We have looked at representing numbers to 100 using base ten, and partitioning numbers using our arrow cards to create addition facts! We are getting really confident now and can’t wait to apply our learning to our fluency and problem solving tasks!
What a fantastic (and tiring) day we have had at Bridlington. Firstly, we visited the interesting John Bull Confectioners sweet factory. We saw how hard sweets are made and even had the chance to create our own rock. This took a lot of perseverance and effort to be able to role and mould the rock. Throughout the tour, we were lucky enough to eat a variety of sweets, chocolate and biscuits made within the factory. We even wanted to eat our rock that we had made.
After lunch, we then went to the beach. We loved our time playing with our friends on the glorious sand, under the beautiful sun. Although it was windy, it did not stop us having fun. After burning off a load of energy, we were treated to a delicious ice lolly, which helped us cool down. We would not have been able to have this, had we not raised an amazing amount of money from our cake sale a couple of months ago.
Check out the video below of our day in Brid!
Today is Crew Nursery we have been super busy baking our special seashell biscuits. The children worked hard to weigh the ingredients, mix it into a dough and cut out the shapes, then when the biscuits were cool we piped in the buttercream and added the magic marshmellow pearl!
Today we continued our work on our DT case study. We thought about the different food groups and how each food group helps and supports our bodies. We thought about what makes a balanced diet, varied diet and unbalanced diet. We worked in mini crews to complete a quiz then thought about different menus and which food groups were in each. We then thought about if each menu was balanced or unbalanced. Finally, we ordered each menu from the most healthy to the least healthy giving reasons for our views. Some great discussions going on in MI today. Lots of great work linking to our work hard howl especially around active participation. We also helped each other to be successful by working collaboratively which linked nicely to our get smart. Keep it up MI!
We are just on our way back now from Bridlington, we should be back at Carcroft School just after 4pm.
Please can we remind Y6 parents to fill in the google form to assign a date and time for their child’s final word. Please can you do this even if you cannot attend. Thank you 😃
