Crew Shields – 8/7/21

What an amazing day we’ve had at our fun day. It’s been an action packed day filled with fun, laughter and enjoyment.

The children had a go at Tug of war which allowed them to demonstrate their strength. I did try to take them all in but I didn’t stand a chance against 17. Thankfully a few children offered to help me win. #crew

we finished the day on the bouncy castle and assault course inflatable. They really enjoyed this and I won’t be surprised if they are exhausted tonight. I know I am.

Year 3

The Year 3 crew would like to invite you to our end of year class surprise. We would like to invite the children to a secret movie night on Wednesday 14th (3-5pm).

We will be enjoying hot chocolate, sweets and popcorn while we enjoy a fun film. The children are welcome to bring pyjamas and a pillow if they choose to. We would really like to keep this a surprise as a long as possible.

This would be a Year 3 event only.

Please reply via dojo if your child will be allowed to join us for the movie night.

Crew EYFS

As you will have guessed by now here in Crew EYFS we love dressing up and having a special day of learning. It is such a fun way for our little crew members to explore their world and discover something new! Now that we are heading into our final week of the year we want to continue the excitement for as long as possible.

We all know the nail biting, gut clenching, heart pumping feeling that comes with watching England play football! Well this week it will be even more nerve racking…

On Friday 9th July, we will be continuing our fun filled foundation finale with a Three Lions Football day! We would like to invite the children to come to school in a football themed outfit. There is absolutely no pressure for extravagant outfits. Football shirts/kits, t-shirts with a football theme, football fancy dress or red and white outfits for England will all look fantastic!

The day will be filled with football themed activities like a penalty shoot out, flag designing and singing It’s Coming Home!

We really (really, really, really) hope that this day will be the start to an exciting weekend build up to watching England compete for the title. However, if we don’t make it quite all the way then we will still celebrate the achievements of the team in getting to the semi-final.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Crew Mcloughlin Weekly Blog 02/07/21

Ahh how is it July already? 2 weeks left!

As always, we have had a great week in Crew Mcloughlin, we had so much fun participating in sports day😁

Besides this, we have been working hard, finishing our final product for our expedition. The children have emailed Dave Eagle, our space expert, to showcase our product on his website. He was touched by the children’s email and would love to showcase the children’s work! So watch this space! Here are some of our expedition lapbooks/posters which helped us reflect on our learning journey.

We all had chippy tea in the sunshine 🐟🍟🌞

Our HoWL average improved this week! So the children grabbed the HoWLopoly Wheel and span a non-uniform day! (I will send a message when we have decided which day).

Have a lovely weekend guys! Bring on the excitement of transition next week!😊

Crew Shields – 2/7/21

What a busy week! Can’t believe there are only 2 weeks left of this academic year.

The children have been extremely busy as we have worked hard to ensure we are finishing up aspects of our learning. We completed our writing unit and to say I was impressed, would be an understatement. It was evident they had been actively listening and used the opportunities to think/pair/share to help clarify their ideas. They should be so proud of the progress they’ve made in all areas of the curriculum. In Maths, we have been working on some challenges that allow us to further embed our knowledge of place value. It’s always such a pleasure watching the children support each other and hearing them explain their reasoning.

Sports Day!! What a fantastic event which is thanks to Miss Marsh. She organised such a fun morning for the children and it was great that they got to work with children they wouldn’t normally. There are definitely some budding Olympians amongst our children.

Now I think this is the most exciting part of the week for the children…

Chippy lunch! The kids loved their lunch and a massive thank you to Reece’s mum for being the ketchup. We all appreciated the kind thought. 😁

Have a great weekend.

Crew Wilson Weekly Review: 2.7.2021

How is it July already?!?

It has been a strange week in Crew Wilson! I was out on Monday, planning for next years exciting expeditions, so Crew Wilson had a different member of staff, but I was informed they were displaying our Howls throughout the day and making our crew proud!

Highlights of the week:

Maths: We have been working on consolidating our knowledge and have been practicing our arithmetic skills throughout the week. We seem to have cracked addition and subtraction presented in a variety of ways. We know to read the question carefully and can effectively use the information provided to solve the problem, well done for your hard work! Shout out to Tia and Bobby-J for smashing their maths work and reaching green standard in record time!

Writing: We have been creating our own animal mash ups, the stranger the better! Then we wrote independent character descriptions to inform readers about which aspects we had taken from the different African animals. We had some very strange and wonderful creations, it was great to see the Crew’s imagination run wild!

Expedition: As we have nearly reached the end of our expedition, we have been testing our knowledge and working hard at creating beautiful display work, to show off to the rest of school how much we have learned over the summer term. I have seen some fantastic writing and artwork being created by children that are really taking their time to ensure their work is of the highest standard! It won’t be long until our Flamingo Land trip where we can see our brilliant informational display boards!

Treats: We had Fish and Chip Friday in the playground today. We loved our special reward for all of our hard work and want a chippy every week! We also have lot’s of exciting things planned for the last few weeks of term to celebrate all of our achievements from the year, watch this space!

Sports Day: We had such a brilliant afternoon on Tuesday at Sports Day! We tried so hard with every activity, were resilient and respectful to each other and cheered each other on the whole way through! Green Team won but that didn’t stop everyone celebrating their success! Such a fantastic afternoon and everyone should be super proud of their achievements!

Learning Legend:

Crew Wilson’s Learning Legend this week is Eva Hopper. Eva has been working very hard to improve her writing skills and is making very good progress, her handwriting is much neater and she is getting more confidence with reading her work back. Eva is also flying through our maths lessons and is regularly reaching green standard, demonstrating her ability to get smart in the lesson and apply her learning to her work. Keep it up Eva!

Only two weeks left in Crew Wilson! We have three days transition into our new classes, then it is fun day, Flamingo Land trip and celebrate our hard work before the summer holidays. This year has flown by!!

Yellow Team 1 Sports Day! (29/6/21) 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💪

Today, Yellow Team 1 Crew managed to have a really fun day. We completed lots of different challenging, but exciting competitions, from standing long jump to the javelin.
