Y6 Performance 5:30 cancellation

Dear Y6 parents, unfortunately due to the weather, we have made the decision to cancel our 5:30 performance Tuesday. Quite a few children have shared they’re not coming back to school for the evening show. However, our 2pm performance will continue to go ahead. Thank you for your understanding.

EYFS Expedition Donation

You may remember seeing Mrs Kelly and Mrs Rafter working hard to run our ice cream stall at the summer fayre. We are so pleased to announce that our stall raised a whopping £70 which has been donated to The Deep. Thank you for your support!

LKS2 Product(s) Launch 🎸🎵🍭🍬

Today, LKS2 launched their final products for both the Spring and Summer Expeditions. Thanks to our trusty sales people, they expertly sold our CDs for the Expedition Why should we protect our beautiful planet? They also were able to sell our sweets that we made for the Expedition answering Why is sugar not sweet? The sweets were freshly packed this morning and we hope that you enjoyed them!

A huge thanks goes to the many parents that turned up and were able to raise money for different charities. It was so cool to see and there were so many lovely vibes, smiley faces and excited children. We will inform you of the money raised in due course! Thanks also to Mrs Fox for taking photos of the event!

There are still plenty of CDs and sweets left that can be bought for £3 and £2 respectively, so be sure to grab yours!

Crew Welburn’s Transition Week

It has been a pleasure getting to know the current nursery children in our new Foundation 2 classroom this week! They have shown me that they are going to be a curious, adventurous and resilient crew and I can’t wait to be their crew leader in September. Here are some of the exciting things we have got up to this week…

Crew Expectations

Crew Shields have spent some time today starting to unpick our Howls so that when we return in September we have a basis to allow us to have a great start to the term. Children really challenged themselves to really delve into what ’being nice’ looks like or what good listening would look like within our crew.

We also created some non-negotiables for our Crew circle which we felt is very important to ensure everyone is given the respect they deserve.

Great job Crew Shields!

I’m so excited for next year and seeing the amazing things you all achieve.

Brain teaser – Parent engagement

This morning was a busy one in Crew Shields and we had to ensure we had our brains switched on from the get go.

We started the morning with some challenges in the hall such as could they turn the opposite way without letting go of hands or twist their arms. Thankfully we had Mrs Rhodes on hand to support us. This was then followed by splitting into teams to see who could get the hula hoop from one end of the line to the other end without letting go of hands.

When we returned to the classroom, we gave our brains a challenge. Using matchsticks, everyone had to fix the equation and there were 3 possible solutions. Most people got 2 of the solutions.

Thanks once again for our parents joining us and getting involved. I even got to hold baby Dalton so mum could get involved.

XP Climate Conference 🌍🌏🌎

Tonight, we have been blown away by how amazing our pupils truly are. Our hearts are really bursting with so much pride. As part of the XP Climate Conference, Carcroft was invited, along with other Trust schools, for the very first event including primary schools.

We were lucky to witness some fantastic speeches, as Year 3 and 4 pupils spoke along with high school pupils in front of about 200-300 people! This did not daunt our very brave pupils, Chloe, Honey, Lilly and Tommy, as they spoke beautifully about the Expedition they completed in the Spring Term. We answered the Guiding Question Why should we protect our beautiful planet? Their confidence shone through as they spoke so clearly and incredibly well as they spoke about their learning and final product – a charity song. We could not have been prouder!

After premiering the song video and listening to a question and answer with some expert visitors, it was time to sell our CDs. Luckily, we had some fantastic sales people who walked around confidently, persuasively and persistently. They have raised a boat load of money for the charity, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation. Without their kindness and can-do attitude, I don’t think we would have raised nearly as much. Most importantly, the manners shown were impeccable whether or not items were sold. A lot of people are leaving XP with lighter pockets tonight thanks to your efforts!

Tomorrow, LKS2 will be selling the charity singles tomorrow for £3, in order to raise more money for the Foundation. It would be great if we could raise even more money. LKS2 will also be selling sweets as part of the current Expedition. See more information below about the CDs:

Finally, we would just like to say a massive well done to Tommy, Chloe, Honey and Lilly again. You guys absolutely smashed it and represented yourselves and Carcroft impeccably. We could not be prouder! A big thanks as well to the parents of these children as well for bringing them – without that, we could not have had as much success!
