Crew Welburn’s Tremendous Trip 🚌

Wow! What a fantastic day out we’ve had at Beamish! ☀️ After a rather long bus journey, we finally arrived in Durham and got to go back in time and experience what life would have been like during the Victorian times. We explored the town with all of its wonderful shops and the bank, and we went into the different houses. We visited a music teacher’s house, a solicitor’s house and a dentist’s house! Luckily the dentist left our wobbly teeth alone! 😬 We also got to experience a mining pit village and the cottages that would have been found in a village like this. We liked the cottages – they were warm and cosy – but we all agreed that we preferred the houses in the town because they were bigger and some of them even had toilets and baths inside! Finally, we experienced a Victorian school day. These lessons were very different to ours at school and the teacher was very strict, but we still enjoyed them. We’ve had so much fun and have had lots of smiles on our faces all day. We can’t wait to share what we found out with each other at school tomorrow 😃

Fun in the sun in EYFS

The children (and grown ups!) have loved taking our learning outside over the last few days. Today we have taken part in many activities such as bike riding, climbing, shelter building and chalk drawing – to name just a few!

We have particularly enjoyed painting our own under water worlds based on this week’s story, ‘Billy’s Bucket’.

Rounders Tournament (15.6.22) ⚾️

Today, LKS2 were representing Carcroft at a tournament held at Campsmount Secondary School. Despite it being the hottest day of the year so far, the competitors gave it their best shot and had a fantastic time. They loved being able to support each others’ successes, whilst enjoying a game in the sun. Although it was hot, the children still managed to bat with great effort and field with enthusiasm.

There were very few breaks, apart from eating an ice lolly, which went down a treat and cooled us right down. One of our teams from Carcroft managed to achieve a fantastic 3rd place for the tournament, which has been celebrated by all who attended and I am sure will be celebrated across the rest of the school. Finally, I just want to say how well the children not only represented Carcroft as a school, but how they represented themselves. They did us proud today!

A special shout out goes to Lydia S and Charlie E for their efforts and leadership during the 5 games that we played!

Here is a peak at what happened at the tournament today:

LKS2 Jars!

Hi everyone,

As part of our Expedition, we are hoping that instead of recycling your jam jars, Year 3 and 4 would be able to have them!

They could be the size of jam jars, preferably, as a reference.

Thank you in advance,

Crew LKS2 🙂
