Crew Godley

What a busy start to our week, celebrating everything great about maths 🧮 🧠

We have kick-started our active maths by investigating place value and number facts to solve problems. The crew agreed on an ‘Activity Challenge’. Our favourite was how many ⭐️ jumps can you do in 1 minute ⏱ ? Jake achieved 75! We estimated, counted our actual, recorded and discussed positions 🥇. So many skills involved 🧠

This week, sees our Walkathon 🏃‍♀️ event taplace. We have our fingers crossed for good weather so that we can complete our 100 laps and have some fun in the process. Please could we ask that any sponsor money be sent to school this week.

Have a great week everyone ☺️

Maths week Crew Fox

This morning, we kick started maths week with a times tables game 🧠 – around the world 🌎! We have also been playing times tables fizz buzz focusing on replacing multiples of 3 with ‘fizz’ and multiples of 5 with ‘buzz’ – this challenged our brain power 🧠. Tomorrow we will be playing kahoot quizzes 📱 to challenge our arithmetic skills!

Maths week in Crew Mcloughlin

Maths week has commenced in Crew Mc. So besides working hard in our daily maths lesson today we started the morning off with a maths Crew! This involved a kahoot quiz, because who doesn’t love a kahoot quiz and to compete against their peers. We have started today by consolidating place value learning from last half term. The hard work definitely paid off from last term as our winning team only got 2 questions wrong – they blamed the quiz for no full marks as that must have been wrong 🤔 Check our tense facial expressions below ⬇️

Crew Shields – 8/11/21

Maths has been a brain teaser today as the children have been tackling worded problems. This has not only been practicing their maths knowledge but also their reading/comprehension.

It was lovely seeing the children working together and supporting each other. They were starting to pull their knowledge of mathematical language in to help them decide on the operation needed to solve the problem.

Maths Week in Crew MI

What a start to maths week! We had a fab magic maths lesson today looking at our 8 times table. We used a counting stick to chant out loud, we worked against other tables chanting and we had competitions between the boys and girls. We then worked with our partner to complete a true and false activity. We then moved onto looking at the biggest and smallest number, selecting the correct answers from groups of numbers. We used our knowledge on place value to do this. Our final activity looked at using a written method for multiplication. We multiplied a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number and some children moved onto multiplying a 2 digit number by another 2 digit number. A super start to maths week! We are all looking forward to setting up our own grocery shop tomorrow, adding and subtracting money and finding change.

Have a lovely evening, see you all tomorrow!

Crew Welburn’s magical maths!

What a start to maths week! We had so much fun exploring part whole models in today’s lesson and applying this to our fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions! We worked really well together to solve all of our problems. Come back tomorrow to see what else we’ve been up to!

Crew MI 5.11.21

We’ve had a great first week with our crew with lots of hard work to get smart and being kind. We have written our Harry Potter independent writes which we have tried really hard to include all the features we have been working on. We have also started our new case study in expedition… SCIENCE and we have had great fun doing some experiments. We have learnt about condensation and evaporation and how we can change states. We also tested to see what solids would dissolve in liquid.

We also had our first lesson from Scotty’s Heroes where we went into the forest school area and built dens. This was great fun and we can’t wait for our next session.

Our PE days have changed starting from next week and they will now be on a MONDAY and FRIDAY so please ensure children have their kits tomorrow. Also, those children who have been attending Young Voices rehearsals on a Friday, please can you check your emails (dated 8th October) and log on to parent pay to give consent to attend the concert please. All the information is on there but if you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask the office or Mrs Ibbotson.

Our target next week is to work on our active listening skills during lessons. Hope you have all had a good weekend. We look forward to seeing you at parents evening this week.

Crew Shields – 6/11/21

It was so lovely welcoming the children back to our new classroom. We have spent the week settling into our new classroom and ack into our routines and structures. I know I miss the routines during the holidays.

We started our next case study for our expedition and have enjoyed the opportunity of completing some science experiments. The children have learned the process of evaporation and condensation before exploring soluble and insoluble materials.

In writing, we have started our non chronological report which will be used for our final product. Despite the children finding this type of writing a bit tricky, they didn’t let this stop them. Their resilience was great and they worked hard.

We ended the week with our first Scotty’s Heroes session. The children had the opportunity to build A frame or lean to shelters. It was great seeing them work collaboratively and solve problems with their shelter.
Overall, a great first week back.
Hope everyone has had a safe Bonfire night.
