Crew Shields – 8/11/21

Maths has been a brain teaser today as the children have been tackling worded problems. This has not only been practicing their maths knowledge but also their reading/comprehension.

It was lovely seeing the children working together and supporting each other. They were starting to pull their knowledge of mathematical language in to help them decide on the operation needed to solve the problem.

Maths Week in Crew MI

What a start to maths week! We had a fab magic maths lesson today looking at our 8 times table. We used a counting stick to chant out loud, we worked against other tables chanting and we had competitions between the boys and girls. We then worked with our partner to complete a true and false activity. We then moved onto looking at the biggest and smallest number, selecting the correct answers from groups of numbers. We used our knowledge on place value to do this. Our final activity looked at using a written method for multiplication. We multiplied a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number and some children moved onto multiplying a 2 digit number by another 2 digit number. A super start to maths week! We are all looking forward to setting up our own grocery shop tomorrow, adding and subtracting money and finding change.

Have a lovely evening, see you all tomorrow!

Crew Welburn’s magical maths!

What a start to maths week! We had so much fun exploring part whole models in today’s lesson and applying this to our fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions! We worked really well together to solve all of our problems. Come back tomorrow to see what else we’ve been up to!

Magical maths in Crew Welburn

Crew Welburn have spent the morning practicing their maths skills. We’ve been using manipulative objects to make numbers, to match objects to numbers and to order representations of numbers. Not only have we been working on our maths skills, but we’ve also been working in mini crews to build relationships, and to work on our sharing, listening and communication skills. We’ve had loads of fun and our HOWL scores were fantastic as a result!

Crew Longley Maths Week

Thank you for your support this week. We have worked really hard on our maths skills and had a little fun along the way!

I have loved seeing people measuring 100g, counting 100 and finding fractions.

We have been working on dividing and fractions this week. We have thought about numerators, denominators and finding unit and non-unit fractions.

On Friday, we took on our biggest challenge of the week. We were set the challenge of doubling the size of a crew mate. We had to. Work on our measurement and doubling skills.

We even found time for a little visitor, as a reward for meeting our HoWL ME’s.

Maths Week – Thank You!

Thank you to children, parents and staff for embracing maths week and taking part!  The homemade  costumes the children attended school in today were just awesome!  Again, thank you for taking part and giving time to create them!
