Today we explored pie charts in our maths lesson. There were some great discussions on how we go about answering some of the more challenging reasoning and problem solving questions. I really praise the collaboration from everyone 🙂

In xp outdoors Crew Godley worked on their maths by find different items that matched the cards.

Today we started our second case study and our next core text ‘The Man on the Moon’.
The story who is about Bob, an astronaut, who works on the moon. In a morning he has a slice of toast and a cup of tea so what better way to start our day!
Happy birthday Aaron! Thank you for the buns 🙂

Today, in Crew Marsh we started our new book.. Man on the Moon.
We acted out the first part of the story where Bob wakes up, makes his toast and cup of tea and then gets ready to go to work on his rocket.
I can’t wait to read the writing tomorrow!

I would just like to share how amazingly proud I am of this small group of mathematicians! Not only do they work hard each week to improve their arithmetic scores but they join in with the times-table chants to get smart with their 2,5 and 10 times tables. The resilience they show, the determination and the pride on their faces is amazing! ⭐️
During our final word session today, we reflected on our first two expeditions and the beautiful work we had produced. It was lovely to see children looking back through their books and the learning journey they had been on. They were then able to add some of their work to their final word slides.

Today we have revisited the work we started on the book ’Holes’ We recapped the story so far using a range of strategies to read the text. We thought about who the characters are, what the setting is, the genre of the text and what has happened so far. We then read the next part of the text using a read around the robin, echo read and partner reading. As we read, we noted down any vocabulary we wanted to discuss. We then thought about these words again in context and unpicked their definitions together. From here we looked at a range of questions continuing our book talk session. We linked our questions to the lenses linking about what the questions were asking us. There was some great collaborative working this morning with lots of children voicing their opinions on different parts of the text.

Today in maths we were looking at position and direction. The children stood either in front, behind, to the side, on top or underneath the tyres when given the instruction. We then ended the lesson by making numerals out of the natural objects on the field. Miss Holdsworth was very impressed at some of the high numbers…especially for the first day back after half term! Great work everyone, keep it up!

A lovely game of football ⚽ this afternoon for Crew Shields as we continue to build up crew in different types of scenarios. Crew Shields love a game of football together and the majority get involved but football can become heated at times so a perfect opportunity to work on negotiating and sportsmanship. It also helped having the sun shining. 🌞
