We have really enjoyed learning about Anne Frank in our expeditionary learning this week. We learnt about Nazi persecution on Jewish people and all about the Holocaust. We have all been so engaged in this subject area this week with so many questions raised. We were all very mature in our approach to this subject and really showcased our best selves.
We have experienced our second castle job today, luckily it was better than being a servant. We were candle makers and we each made our own candle.
Today we explored ‘subjects’ in a sentence, we discovered that sometimes a subject may be made up of one word, sometimes, its many words. For example, we found that ‘ran’ is an example of a verb, or action, it cannot be the subject of a sentence because it is not a noun (person, place or thing). We then created our own sentences for our crew to order and identify the subject. It was great fun!
Today we continued our expeditionary learning and started to find out about the Blitz and the impact it had. We looked at the areas affected by the Blitz and how British civilians responded. One of the activities allowed us to explore different pictures thinking about what we could see, what we thought was happening and what we wondered about the pictures. We showed some great collaborative working during this activity and all shared our ideas during our whip around.
We created illustrations to go alongside our text- The Contraption. We thought really hard about the description and tried to add all these details. We really enjoyed creating these. We led our own learning by thinking about what we could use to create the shapes. Jake used the bottom of a glue stick for the cogs which Mrs Atherton thought was great!
LKS2 children loved the sun shine today and here is what we’ve been up to.
In class today we have looked at primary and secondary colours and how we make these using primary colours. We did a fab job at our colour wheels and then we applied this to our rangoli patterns.
This week, Crew MW have been exploring their number bonds to 10 and writing these as addition sentences. We used the cubes to find the two parts, and then put them together to make the whole number of 10. We worked really hard to get smart in this lesson!
Crew Haigh spent some time reflecting on their visit to the seaside last term, working on our motor and writing skills we made and sent postcards home to mums and dads.. We hope you enjoyed receiving them!
Once the talent show had ended, Noah announced that there was one more act. All of the animals gathered around and stared at the cocoons, they started to wiggle and hatch. Two beautiful, rainbow butterflies – we created our own butterflies!
