For our experience lesson, Crew Godley, we read the story ‘Our Tower’ for our new writing unit then we discussed different scenes from the book. We then made our own towers out of different resources in the classroom and designed our own towers from looking at different types of towers.
Our tower
Today we started our new book in writing called “Our Tower”, the book started with a girl who was walking through a tall, grey and dingy city. She did not feel very happy and it was raining so she was soaked!
We experienced the miserable weather and built our own skyscrapers for our own city. We especially worked on our adjectives in todays lesson to help us to describe what we could see.
First Aid…
Today, we had a very exciting start to the term and kicked off hook week with a first aid course. We learnt about how to give CPR, check for dangers, call the emergency services, how to use a defibrillator and an epi-pen. We then talked in detail about what we had learnt and made suggestions for what we thought our guiding question for this next expedition would be.
Why can a polar bear not live in Africa?
Today we have been Scientists and looked at the different parts of an animal, we labelled their different features and compared them to other animals we have learnt about. We also thought about why animals have different features because of their habitat and the temperature.
Inputs and Outputs 🖥️ 🎧
Today in computing we have explored inputs and outputs. Did you know an input is getting information into a computer and an output is getting information out of a computer. Inputs could be a keyboard ⌨️ a mouse or a microphone 🎤 An output could be a monitor, a printer 🖨️ or a speaker 🔊. We then became virtual
Tom’s Dad has gone missing!📰
When we got in from break today we heard our classroom door make a strange noise, we had been delivered a newspaper that told us the great explorer (Tom’s Dad) had gone missing in North Pole.
We decided that we wanted to help, so we all wrote our own newspaper describing what Tom’s Dad looked like and where he had gone missing. We then told the rest of the school about this by posting it under their classroom doors.
Trying to find penguin!🐧
In today’s experience lesson we tried to see if we could find where penguin was because he was feeling lonely and sad. Luckily using our telescopes we managed to find him rowing in an umbrella!
Dancing to the weather ☀️☔️❄️
In PE we created dances using the weather and what we might do when we experience that weather.
We looked at sunshine, snow and rain.
Citizenship crew – is it fair?
Today we looked at what the word fair means and that it does not mean that everyone has to have the same or equal all of the time. We voted on different situations with our voting cards.
Sailing to the south pole! 🚣🏻♂️
In todays experience lesson we have made our own boat just like the boy in our story and sailed with penguin to the south pole. There was some choppy water and angry clouds, so we got to experience a storm!
