Maths is fun in the sun ☀️

Today in maths we were looking at position and direction. The children stood either in front, behind, to the side, on top or underneath the tyres when given the instruction. We then ended the lesson by making numerals out of the natural objects on the field. Miss Holdsworth was very impressed at some of the high numbers…especially for the first day back after half term! Great work everyone, keep it up!

Reading

Today, in Crew Pashley, Brianna asked if she could read Roald Dahl’s The Witches to the crew for their after dinner transition task. It was lovely to hear her read and the whole crew were supportive of her reading out loud. They even asked her to read more! We all enjoyed it, especially me!

Crew Pashley Newsround

Today, in Crew Pashley, we finished writing our scripts about an earthquake disaster in Turkey. All the children have done amazing this week and persevered with their writing. They have all challenged themselves and the final scripts have been lovely to read. The children all performed their final scripts to each other. All children were super supportive of each other and enjoyed pretending to host the news.

Carcroft Newsflash! 📰🌍🧑‍🏫

This week in Crew FE we have been writing a broadcasting script about the recent devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, linked to our current Expedition, Earth Shattering Events, What happens when nature strikes? Today the children had the opportunity to perform these in front of a green screen. I was blown away with children’s fluency and expression skills as well as their ability to follow stage directions whilst reading!

Carcroft Newsroom!

Welcome to Carcroft Newsroom!

This week, children in Crew Thompson have been writing their own scripts about the recent earthquakes that happened in Turkey and Syria. Today, children had lots of fun performing these in front of the the green screen! I was really impressed with how hard the children worked and how they had lots of courage and determination to perform these. Keep up the fab work!

Half way mark…

We can’t believe that we’ve reached the half way mark with swimming lessons.

The children are making progress every week and it’s lovely to see how much they’ve come on over the last 6 weeks.

We’ve a group of children in the deep end and quite a few have moved to the middle section today. A few are still in the shallow end but making strides every week.

Sharing our expedition learning..

The children loved sharing their expedition learning and sharing what they have learnt so far when answering the guiding question: where could your journey take you?

The children were most excited about sharing their hunt for the kings crown and where they had looked around London. 👑

It was lovely to have parents in to share our learning journey so far, and we cannot wait to share our next case study about space.

Teacher Swap! 🧑‍🏫🔄

This afternoon, many of our teachers had the opportunity to swap classes so that they could share some of their favourite stories with another crew! The children absolutely loved having a different teacher, listening to stories and exploring their own imagination! It was lovely to pop into crews and see the real love for reading taking place as well as children’s thirst for reading. The fact that in some crews children were wanting to read more books by particular authors because they enjoyed it so much, and that other children wanted to read the book again or finish it, was fab! Hopefully next year we can do much more of this and maybe we can get some of our grown ups from home to come in too!

Sharing our expedition journey so far…

It was great to see so many grown ups coming in to support the children so thank you for taking the time to come and join us.

As a crew, we decided that we’d feel more confident sharing information with parents together before looking through books. This allowed everyone to get involved with the sharing of their learning as we were unsure of how many parents were able to attend.

Each person had a part of the learning to share and then they felt more confident sitting with their books and showing the different parts of learning.

The crew did an amazing job of sharing our learning for summer 1 and they should be extremely proud of themselves!
