Writing Experience

Today, we have started to look at our new unit of writing which will be a diary of a Roman soldier. We will have precious learning to pull from as well as a video stimulus.

We watched the video and discussed the daily routine of a soldier. Children were then asked to plan a light meal for the camp if they were on duty that morning. We had suggestions such as cornflakes, porridge, fry up and pancakes. We discussed the likelihood of these and decided it would have most likely been meat, bread and cheese.

Then we took part in early morning march so we could hear announcements and be issued their job role for the day. We’ll need a bit of work on being able to march in unison. 😂

Finally, they were issued with jobs and then discussed what this job would entail and whether they’d be happy to do it. No surprise the children who would have been cleaning the latrines said they wouldn’t want that job.

Next lesson, we’ll use the feelings, checking, action and imaging lenses to chot some ideas which will support our writing.

Mathmagians!

Crew Hamill have worked their magic with their maths over the last few lessons. We began by adding two two-digit numbers and moved on to adding two three-digit numbers, some of which involved exchanging into the 10s and 100s columns!

Crew MW’s Library Visit 📚💕

On Friday, we celebrated Libraries Week by taking a trip to our school library. We each picked out a book and we showed it to the other members of our crew. We then decided which book we wanted to read in the library, chilling on the bean bags and cushions, as well as choosing a book to take back to the classroom with us. We absolutely LOVE going to the library! 📚

Why is Jesus important to Christians?

Today we explored who Jesus was and why he is a significant person in the Christian faith.

We discovered that Jesus taught Christains that we should show kindness and love to all people, just like our ‘Be Kind’ HoWL, regardless of where they come from or the situation in which they might find themselves. We thought about how we can show kindness and used our conversation protocols to have some lovely discussions on how we should treat our friends and neighbours.

Oliver said ‘It does not matter what we look like, we are all the same.’ Koa explained that he helps his neighbour by looking after pets when they are not home. Leyland also said that he shows kindness by helping his neighbours by getting shopping for them when they are too poorly to go out.

PE

This week in PE we have been working on our fitness. There were four stations for the children to work in and they had a minute in each one. Lots of sweaty and exhausted children by the end of it.
