Today in Crew Haddock we worked together to do a pointillism of a whale and then we used our reading corner. Sharni-Mae really enjoyed reading the book Funny Bones.

Science Experiment🧑🔬
So today in Crew Haddock we did an experiment on global warming. We had to predict what would happen then put our theory to the test using 2 thermometer , glass cup and plastic cup with the same amount of water in. Throughout the day we recored the temperature in each cup to see which would hold in the heat .
Bake Sale
Crew Haddock would like to thank the kitchen staff and all the parents that came and supported us in today by buying buns to help raise funds for our school trip. We raised £92.68🧁
Demonstration Comprehension ✍🏻
In reading today, we started by finding the definitions of words that was scattered around the room. We then read the text aloud using a mixture of strategies such as round robin and echo reading. We then looked at our reasons to read. We had lots of fantastic ideas and used the text to help us.
Ball skills 🎾
In todays PE lesson, we concentrated on developing our tracking and catching skills. We needed to keep our eyes focused on the ball, apply a ready position and move our feet to the ball. First, we warmed up by playing ‘head, shoulder, need and toes” while avoiding the cones and catching the ball. Children then placed their beanbag on top of a cone. They jogged around, avoiding the cones. When I called ‘head’ pupils move to any cone and practise throwing the beanbag up, touching their head and catching the beanbag. We then played “baller” and “switch” for our skills development.
Book talk
In our book talk lessons, we spent some time text marking and ensuring we understood the vocabulary. In the second lesson, we summarised what we’d read on the previous lesson before answering some questions about the text.
Presentation Critique
During academic crew, we had a gallery walk looking at our presentation and how we can continue to improve it.
Science Write up
In science, we have been continuing to look at the effects of global warming by conducting some experiments. Our experiment was looking at how temperature is effected based on the conditions. We placed one thermometer in a plastic container and one in a glass container before recording the results at regular intervals. We found that the glass container held the heat because it created a greenhouse effect and trapped the heat.

Citizenship Wednesday – Citizenship Crew
Today, Crew Hamill continued their learning on our ‘It’s My Body’ focus in citizenship crew. We learned about the importance of sleep, exercise and healthy eating as well as understanding the negative impact certain things can have on our body. We then organised images into ‘healthy’ and ‘damaging’, detailing which part of our body they impacted on.
