This afternoon, we investigated how light travels. We used a torch and a mirror to see how it reflects. We placed the mirror at the bottom of our page and drew the line following the reflection. We could see that light travels and is reflected in a straight line.

Today, in Crew Boswell, during our RE lesson we began to think about what love really is. We began the session by looking at some popular quotes from the Bible such as, ‘love is patient, love is kind’ that often people share at Christian celebrations in churches such as weddings. These quotes really got us thinking about what love is, who we love, what love looks like, what difference loves makes to us, the community and the wider world, as well as what love isn’t. We shared our thoughts around love and recorded these ‘What love means to Crew Boswell’. We then each created a heart to show what we thought love was using drawings and writing.

After reading the next part of Hansel and Gretel we learnt that Hansel and Gretel came across a gingerbread house in the middle of the woods. It had icing on it and lots of sweets. We created our own gingerbread houses in mini crews and had a competition to see who was the best voted by our parents. It was sticky work but we enjoyed eating it.

Today Y1 got introduced to a racket and how to use it. We played lots of different games with our rackets to get used to how to hold it. I was so impressed and can’t wait to build on this next week.

Today children completed a piece of independent writing. They all wrote a character description on Audrey, one of the characters from The Lorax. They thought about Audrey’s appearance and personality. Children used their chotting sheets well to support them along with their target grids. Well done MI 🙂

Today we started to think about the art work that will be part of our photo frames for our final product. We looked at and discussed a picture that we will be using as a stimulus then we gave some critique to Mrs McClare based on her model. We had a go at drawing the outline on our picture before using oil pastels to create our patterns. We really enjoyed starting this piece of work and everyone is eager to do more!

Today we started to unpick our arithmetic test from last week, working on some of the questions we answered incorrectly.
