Some children from Crew Marsh explored the outdoor area of our School today. We spoke about the importance of litter picking but also making sure it is safe to do so. Some of them were quite shocked at how much they found but also quite impressed that they could all hold the huge pipe they found too! They did a great job and hopefully they spread their enthusiasm about keeping their environment safe to others in the community 👏
As part of our expedition we have been looking at the British artist Dennis Creffield. He used charcoal to draw every cathedral in England. We have been using charcoal to draw our school building. We have also thought lots about re-drafting and how we can use kind critique to help each other improve.
In crew we have been drawing our perfect pets as part of a competition to win some money for school. Some children decided to draw traditional pets, others chose more exotic animals and there was even a hybrid animal in the mix!
This morning, we took advantage of the lovely sunshine and went outside on the school field to do some litter picking! We couldn’t believe how much rubbish we found!
This afternoon we had a fantastic PE lesson where we were practicing our passing skills. We discussed what makes a good pass and what this should look like. Children identified that we should make a pass using the inside of our foot so that we have more accuracy. Keep up the great work!
Today in our expedition lesson, we have found out lots of information about Roman towns. We focussed on six Roman towns in England: Londinium, Eboracum, Viriconium, Isca Augusta, Deva, Aquae Sulius. We used a map to help us locate where the Romans settled in the United Kingdom.
Another week, another set of fabulous Star Readers! 🌟📖 This week the children were all able to articulate why they had been chosen as their Crews Star Reader, from reading every day at home, to contributing great ideas in class to remembering all of their RWI sounds! It was lovely to hear how well they are all doing in terms of reading! 👏 We also discussed what books we like to read, our favourite authors and how to use the library! And of course, we also enjoyed some tasty breakfast treats! 🥐🥣😋🧃
We have been perfecting our art skills this week using charcoal. Look at some of the budding artists in Year 1 🥰.
In xp outdoors they played basket ball and looked for conkers
