We are all so excited that we have not got a cheerleading club running at lunchtimes. We cannot wait to see your routines!

In writing today, we wrote PP3 which was all about the surge of water breaking through the ice dam. We picked up the pace needed in this writing lesson and used shorter sentences for the effect. We used lots of features such as expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and even managed to use a simile! 😀 What a fantastic writing lesson! We can’t wait to write PP4 on Monday!
Thankfully we were saved from the rain yesterday and had our Scotties session in the hall. This allowed children to practice their casualty rescue. Children were split into the lift crew and of course the rest had to be an injured patient. They took it in turns and learned the importance of being a team. This was put to the test when Mick was the patient however they were successful because they worked together.
Today we have been learning about what a network is in relation to computing. We learned about our home and school network as well as the network that keeps the world connected. We even started learning the network rap.
Today, we have continued to work on how to use fronted adverbials. We worked together to identify the different types of fronted adverbials.
In maths, we used bagels to help us understand how to partition a mixed number. Some of us found this quite difficult but after Miss Shields demonstrate we feel a bit more confident with it. We’ll do some more fluency style questions tomorrow to ensure we can apply this knowledge.
In expedition yesterday, we were learning about the difference between weather and climate. We then used some of our reading skills to text mark the information to allow us to answer a range of questions. Miss Shields guided us however this has been a skill we’ve been learning in reading. We then had an opportunity to use the information to answer out questions.
Yesterday, we completed our Plot point 1 by writing chunk 2. We spent some time chotting our ideas before completing a shared write. This allowed us to see how we can use our chotting in sentences. Some great participation while sharing our ideas.
In reading today, we completed our demo comprehension. This supports us with being able to answer questions by modelling how to skim and scan. Once we had a couple of questions modelled, we had an opportunity to complete similar questions with our partner.
At the beginning of the week, we had our book talk lessons where we heavily focused on vocabulary and ensuring we understood the text. Whole reading, we had some questions to get us thinking about the text but to allow us an opportunity to text mark where we could find the answers.
