RE in Crew MI

Today we started a unit of work on Christianity. We looked at a variety of pictures from a family home, thinking about what we could see and then thinking about what type of home the pictures have come from. We then discussed the pictures in more detail thinking about how some of the pictures related to Christianity. We then became detectives where we tried to make links between the items and thought about the importances of each item. From here we ordered our items from the most important to the least important which raised some great discussions! We really challenged each others thinking.

We then moved on to looking at a weekly calendar thinking about our families and what would go on our own weekly calendar. We then watched a clip on a boy called Nathan. We thought about all the things he does in his week and added this to a calendar. We annotated the calendar to say why he is choosing to do certain things.

In our debrief we thought about challenges Christian’s face and what a Sunday morning may look like for a Christian compared to our Sunday morning. We also thought about all the good things about being a Christian. What a fantastic lesson this was! Such great collaboration and discussions taking place 🙂

Voice of an angel

WOW! WOW! WOW!

Today was the turn of Shiloh to share her talent with us. She had told me she wanted to sing which I was surprised by as she can be quite shy. However, this afternoon she blew us all away!

This confident girl stood up in front of her crew and sang like an angel. I have no idea where she has been hiding that voice but I’m very glad she felt comfortable enough to share with us. Shiloh has only ever sang in front of her family so this was the first time she sang in front of a group.

Chicks 🐥

It’s been such an exciting time in Nursery recently after the arrival of our chicks! We have treated them to a little paddling pool to stretch their legs in, and it meant we could sit and watch them playing together. Some of us were really eager to hold them, whilst some of us opted to just stroke them – we absolutely LOVED it! We have felt really lucky to have experienced this and we really don’t want to say goodbye to our new friends at the end of this week!

Crew Boswell – Freya’s Football Success!

Last weekend, I went to a national football tournament in Coventry. I went with Doncaster Elite Academy and it was lots of fun even though I got injured. At the end, I couldn’t take a penalty but my friends did and they scored. Even though I got injured last minute, I still enjoyed watching the penalties but for some of it I did have to look away because I was nervous for my team. Luckily, we won 3-2 and when we scored the winning penalty I jumped up and tried to run to my team but the they ran over to me so we could celebrate together.

New additions to EYFS 🐣🐥

This week we have welcomed 15 new, fluffy arrivals to EYFS 🐥

The eggs arrived earlier in the week, and we watched the incubator in anticipation to see if we could see any movement or cracks appearing.

After a couple of days, we came to school one morning to find that some of the chicks had hatched overnight and were starting to fluff up in the warmth of the incubator! We could hear them cheeping and we could not believe that they had come out of something so small!

That same day, 5 more eggs hatched and we were lucky enough to watch some of them happen in front of our eyes! We had some visitors from other crews in school – everyone has been so excited! The following day, the remaining 5 eggs had all hatched too and we now had 15 new arrivals to look after. We had to wait until they were fully dry and fluffed up before transferring them to their brooder box.

We made sure that the brooder box was nice and cosy for them, switching on the heat lamp and making it comfortable, as well as sorting water and food out for them. Since then, we have been watching them getting to grips with their first few days out of their eggs. They are so cute and we all love them so much! Now that they are a little stronger, we will be able to hold them if we want to! We can’t wait to spend the next few days with them before they go off to their new homes with some of the very lovely staff from our school! 🐥

Citizenship Crew 👫🍎🚛

As part of ‘National Healthy Eating Week’ and to celebrate the countdown to Paris 2024, Aldi, Team GB and ParalympicsGB are challenging young people aged 5–14 to get creative and design a lorry that inspires people to enjoy healthy, sustainable food. Therefore, in crew this morning we all designed our own lorries! We thought about writing, colours and suitable images to capture peoples’ attention. At the end of the session we critiqued each others and offered notices, wonders and praises! Mrs Pashley has also been tasked with choosing a winner 🌟 from each crew in LKS2! All shall be revealed in crew tomorrow…

LKS2 Community Meeting 🏫🌟🏆

Today was our last Community Meeting where it will just be us! Next week, we are very much looking forward to welcoming some of our grown ups into our Community Meetings so that we can share all of our amazing learning, celebrations, praises and appreciations!

This week we had lots to celebrate! We celebrated all of those children who took part in our Rounders Competition. Well done everyone! We are all so proud of you! 🏆

We also celebrated all of those children in each crew who read at home the most! 📚 This week’s winning crew was Crew Thompson with a total of 6 crew members reading 5 times last week! Amazing work! 🌟 I wonder which crew will take the crown next week?! 👑 We also celebrated our ‘Star Readers’ who will get to enjoy breakfast with Mrs Atherton next week! 🥐🥤

It was also nice this week to celebrate some of the children’s achievements out of school. This week we had two girls in Crew Thompson who proudly shared their medals 🥇from a recent football ⚽ tournament, where they came first! 🌟 A fantastic achievement! Well done girls! 👏

An amazing week! 🌟 We look forward to sharing more next week!
