In XP Outdoors today we had to find something straight, green, beautiful etc. We then shared everything we found with each other and noticed how all chose different items.

We ended our hook week with a stem project that required us to use our problem solving skills. Children were given a range of resources and they had to use these to create a pulley system. We linked this to how in the olden days. miners and other industries would have relied on systems like this to help them move large loads of coal.
This activity really challenged our resilience as there were a few different steps that needed to be completed to allow them to successful. We managed some of the steps but then required some clues to support with the rest.

Crew Shields have smashed their 1st swimming lesson ! Great job everyone! 😁

Yesterday, we visited the library for some reading for pleasure time. The children chose their favourite books and enjoyed reading them. We then came back to class and the full class was engaged with our class reader Lottie reading the book Eragon.

Hook week continued yesterday by allowing the children time to consolidate previous learning by giving them time to research and create a fact-file about mining. Children focused this more towards their local community so they could remind themselves of the importance mining played to the exisitance of Carcroft.
