Today, Yellow Team 1 Crew managed to have a really fun day. We completed lots of different challenging, but exciting competitions, from standing long jump to the javelin. I think we all really enjoyed the javelin the most, as we took many goes at this. We managed to come second with Crew Yellow 🌞🌞 overall. We were really pleased! Here are some photos from our first sports day in a long time! A massive shout out to the Year 6s for helping explain the activities so well!
We had a great day and can’t wait to compete again! 😆
The children have had a great day joining in with the activities at sports day, please bare with us as we prepare videos to show you everything that we have been up to today ☺☺
I have been so impressed by the children’s maturity this week, we are definitely Year 1 ready! The children have enjoyed exploring the text ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’. We have investigated which fruit and vegetables grown on the farm, we explored if they grew above or below ground and planted our own vegetables to harvest.
We also had some fantastic, independent writing, retelling the story of Oliver’s vegetables. The children wrote their own chunks of sense, making their work beautiful by ensuring they used finger spaces, capital letters and full stops, Crew Godley you are amazing!
HoWL average…… 3.1
We did it!!! I am so proud of the children this week applying their math’s and phonics independently, there was only one thing for it, lots of 4’s. Grace particularly blew me away, she always shows green standard and sets a great example to her peers ☺️
We have had a lovely week in Crew Mcloughlin despite it being assessment week. I am so proud of our hard work and determination to achieve our expected targets. We really have had much to celebrate with Crew Mc’s scores and progress made this year and it just shows we are getting smarter 😁 I am truly blown away, despite the strange year we have had, that the children have been able to achieve what they have, true heroes!
With being in summer term the assessments did challenge us and I know we have been disheartened at some point along the way this week but I just love how much as a Crew we care and want the very best for ourselves.🥰 But we need to remember we have not had a normal year and the majority of us are making fab progress and every single one of you should be proud of your achievements this year!
This week our HoWL average 2.8 doesn’t fully reflect the ‘work hard’ week we have had, as a number of our Crew have been absent. We need to show an improvement in our attendance as we know Crew Mc had the lowest in our phase last week ☹ Remember we only have 3 weeks left together too! 😪
I definitely think Crew Mc deserve a treat and a well earned rest over the weekend ready for a week full of sports day, fish and chips and finalising our expedition product.
This week, we have smashed our final assessments 🤩. I am so proud of how well they have done to say they’ve lost so much of their learning time over the past 18 months. They really have worked hard to get smart!🥳
During our write stuff sessions, we have create some super newspaper reports…
We’ve used our crew time to continue working on our Final Word presentations. Children have reflected on their character growth and beautiful work. Next week, we will begin to celebrate their academic success, ready to begin practing our presentation skills 😀.
What a great week we have had in Crew Gerrard as we were put to the test, quite literally – it was assessment week! I am really proud of how hard we have worked to achieve our best. I know that most of us have given it our all and I could not ask for more.
Assessment week is challenging, as it tests our resilience and makes us quite tired. We were trying to improve on our Spring assessments, as we wanted to show how ‘smart’ we have become during our final few weeks of Year 5.
This week, we also said goodbye to Miss Scott who has been a massive help to Crew Gerrard. We are sad to see you go Miss Scott, but will try our best to keep in touch. We wish you nothing but success in your new school and know that you will smash it there, just like you have here!
Our HoWL average doesn’t fully reflect the positive week we have had, as a number of our Crew have been absent. We need to show an improvement in our attendance to help make sure we can beat our weekly HoWL average, week in week out! It was 2.7.
Have a well deserved rest, Crew Gerrard and see you all on Monday! 😆
I am so impressed with our crew this week. They have absolutely smashed assessment week and every single one of them has shown me just how smart they have got over the past year! Well done Crew Welburn 🌟⭐🌟
In between all of our assessments, we have had lots of opportunity to build our communication and trust as a crew. We’ve really enjoyed our jigsaw sessions this week as part of this, as we’ve thought about what makes a good friend and how we can be better friends in our crew to show how kind we are.
We have also been writing up some of our pieces of work ready for our new display to go up in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been blown away by some of the handwriting progression that I’ve seen this week, particularly with Harry’s work. Have a look at one of his first pieces of writing from autumn term, and the piece which he has just produced for display…
Harry’s autumn term writing…Harry’s amazing summer term writing!
HOWL Heroes:
Work Hard and Get Smart: All of Crew Welburn deserved to be my work hard and get smart HOWL Heroes this week!
Be Kind: Evie
HOWL Score: 3.4 A fantastic score today Crew Welburn!
This week’s HOWL average: 3.3 Well done Crew Welburn!
Learning legend: This week’s learning legend is Frankie Foster-Cutts. Frankie has been a superstar this week in Crew Welburn, especially in her writing! She has worked hard to write using chunks of sense, capital letters, full stops and finger spaces, and she has been brilliant at critiquing her handwriting to try and make it beautiful in her expedition book. Frankie has also shown what a kind member of Crew Welburn she is, by looking out for people to praise throughout the day, to help us all to reflect and celebrate the positives in our crew. Well done Frankie, you are a fantastic member of Crew Welburn!
The children this week have tried hard to discuss the different emotions they feel during different circumstances. We have looked closely at how we are feeling ready for transition and thought about ideas to support each other.
We also got a chance to spin the wheel during assembly this week for an improved HOWL score. My lovely children’s were given a great prize! A chance to sponge the teacher!
Have a look at the video! They definitely enjoyed themselves.
