Respecting our rights and differences 🌎

Today in citizenship Crew we talked about how dull the world would be if we were all the same! We celebrated our differences and things that made each of us unique. We had some fantastic discussions around the differences we observed in the pictures and concluded no matter where you are from or what you may look like we should treat each other with kindness and respect. Evie made a great point that in doing this we would all keep each other safe.

Beautiful Work This Week

Expedition Stories: UKS2 @ Plover

This week we’re proud to share the beautiful story of UKS2s Expedition from last term ‘Earth Emergency’. The carefully designed planters and greenhouse will surely be a catalyst for Plover growing its own produce for generations to come!

Beautiful Curation at XP Doncaster

XP on the TV!

For anyone who missed it – XP Doncaster has been featured in a BBC Two documentary which aired on the 7th March. All episodes are available on BBC iPlayer now.

We’d like to thank everyone who has got in touch or left a comment about the programme – we are so proud of our students and how eloquently they expressed how they feel about their school.

If you’d like to learn more about our schools and how you can do what we do too, you can get a copy of our book How We XP here.

Collage Art Work – Hannah Hoch style 🐻‍❄️

This week we have looked at the artist, Hannah Hoch, who is known for her collage work, we began by exploring collage materials and how we could create different effects with colour, size and shape. We practised creating by african animals linking to our key text Handa’s Surprise. We then critiqued these and created a collage of a polar bear to begin our learning around polar regions. Check out our polar collage artwork!

Magnets

In science we were looking at magnets and finding out which items were magnetic and which ones wont . We also looked at what happens when you put 2 magnets together. If you put N and N together they would repel , same for S and S but if you put S and N together they would attract. Here are our findings

Crew MW’s Stay and Engage

Thank you to all of our grown ups for coming in to school today to help us with our expedition learning! This week in Crew MW, we have been looking at different ways to help the Gingerbread Man to cross the river. We talked about how using an animal wouldn’t work as they would probably eat him, how he couldn’t swim as he would get all soggy and crumble into pieces, and how we would need to use materials that float. After drawing our designs out, we invited our grown ups in to help us to create them, We loved having you all in to help us bring our designs to life and we think they look amazing! We can;t wait to display them on our corridor display!

Crew MW’s World Book Day Celebrations 📚

Crew MW had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day today. We started our day with a ‘guess the story’ quiz which we were fantastic at! Then we had a little costume parade and a crew photo to show off all of our costumes. After working hard on our own reading in phonics, we got to share a new story together, which we voted for as a crew – Puss in Boots! We really enjoyed this story and it made us laugh how the cat tricked everyone and helped his poor owner to become rich! We really enjoyed our World Book Day celebrations!
