On Wednesday afternoon, Crew Hamill took a visit to our school library. We were able to browse a fantastic selection of books and choose one that we would like to take home to read for pleasure. We also spent some time reading with our friends.

In this week’s book talk, we had a game of fastest finger first. Miss Hamill asked us retrieval questions about the book and we had to find the answer within the text as quickly as we could!
In our expedition lesson, we have been investigating how magnets work and what items around the classroom were magnetic. We found that when you put North Pole and North Pole together (the same) the repel but when you put North Pole and South Pole together (opposite) they attract. We found that items such as scissors, paper clips and coins are magnetic but things such as paper, cardboard and pencils are not. 🧲
What an AMAZING day we have had today at Active Fusions festival of sport. We have participated in a range of activities such as rugby, seated volleyball, team building, ballet and taekwondo! We even got to run a lap on the track! 🏃♀️💨We had so much fun and can’t wait for the next one! 😃😃
Carcroft girls enjoyed the afternoon out playing football on XPs 4G pitch. We played 3 matches and overall Carcroft girls Y5/6 team won first place! What an achievement! The Y3/4 team stood out for their defending skills and sportsmanship. It was amazing to see! We cannot wait for the next tournament!
We have had such a fun day at the active fusion festival of sport: we have learnt a dance with the royal opera ballet, played boccia, played with a kin ball and done some team building skills! It’s been a busy day!
In Crew Haddock we worked together to get 1 piece of paper from one end of the classroom to the other end without using our hands.
As part of their Expedition ‘Once Upon a Time’ Green Top have had some beautiful displays created for their reading areas in Nursery and Reception!
All our staff were getting their heads together and planning for next term’s Expeditions last Friday and Monday – lots of exciting learning and products are on the horizon for students in term 3!
As with all of our Expeditions, students will work within one of our three curriculum seams and staff will do the project first! If it’s good enough for our kids, it’s good enough for us!
This week, G28 were the first year at XPG to complete their ‘Passage’ – these are presentations to a panel where they reflect on their learning journey, discuss examples of their work, and talk about how they are prepared for next steps in learning and GCSEs.
The quality of the “passage” presentations @xpgateshead as year 9 pupils discuss their learning journey and character growth in front of an invited panel has been outstanding – a real privilege to be part of this process @XPtrust pic.twitter.com/iscK4W8SMS
