Today, Crew Ramsay learned how to use our knowledge of doubles to make near doubles. We added 1 more to known doubles on the rekenreks to see the structure of near doubles. Here we are recording expressions and getting stuck in!

During maths this week, we have been looking at using our subitising skills in increasingly complex arrangements. We looked at arrangements of 6 and how we can use our knowledge of number bonds to 6, and our skills of subitising to 5, to help us to identify the number represented. We worked together to decide whether an arrangement was 6 or not 6, and then we used counters to replicate the pattern, before explaining how we knew the pattern showed 6, by identifying known patterns within.

In Crew McGlone, we have been using our magic counting wands to help us to count numbers beyond 10.

In Crew Ramsay we have progressed to numbers beyond 10 in Mastering Number. We have been really trying to understand that teen numbers are composed of 10…and a bit more. We have chanted, pushed beads and danced our way into teen number fluency! Here we are enjoying some down time with our rekenreks playing a little composition bingo to embed prior learning. Well done Crew Ramsay, you are awesome mathematicians.

Today in Mastering Number, Crew Ramsay got busy making odd numbers on a tens frame. We learned that odd numbers can be made by making an even number and adding an odd ‘1’. We call these ‘Odd Tops’.
