Printing

Today we carried on with our art learning. Children had to create their printing block based on their interests. They’d been asked to create an image that represents them. It was lovely seeing some of the children supporting their peers when they’d completed their own.

Then it was time to print which required children to work quickly and carefully. It’s important to not allow the paint to dry otherwise the print would be unsuccessful. We discussed how we could improve if we were to complete the project again. Children suggested making their images bigger or using more paint which would allow a clearer image.

Library Visit

Despite it being the first day back, Crew Shields made a visit to the library so that children could get cracking with reading at home. We know the importance of reading regularly to support children with their fluency and understanding. We discuss that I will be checking books on a Friday and recording their reading sessions. Raffles up for grabs for those avid readers.

Rainbow fish experience lesson 🐠

In Crew Marsh we read and unpicked the book Rainbow fish, we learnt that the fish was not kind at the start of the book but became kind towards the end. We linked this to our be kind Howls. Then the children created their own rainbow fish which is going to go in our crew kindness fish tank. All children did an amazing job at describing their rainbow fish with an adjective.

Welcome back to the new MI

We have all been busy today developing our new crew. We have taken part in lots of team building and communication activities which have allowed us to work together effectively. We really enjoyed building a marshmallow tower, seeing who could construct the tallest tower. We also played railroad tracks where Mrs McClare called out different opposites and we had to decide which we preferred! We also used balloons and slips of paper to get to know each other a little better. We all wrote a question on our slip of paper then placed it inside our balloon before blowing it up. We then circled up, taking it in turns to pop our balloons and read out the question inside. We all shared our answers.

We also started our art work on printing. We discussed lots of things about ourselves then used this in our art work to create a picture that represents us. We created a key where different shapes represented different things about ourselves. We then printed our shapes using different colours and we also tried to layer our shapes in different ways.

Cardboard needed please – Year 1-6

Good evening.

I hope that you are all enjoying the Summer break.

As we start the countdown to our return, I was hoping that the children could start collecting cardboard. This will be needed the first 3 days back when we will complete an art project across school.

This can be cardboard from packaging or large boxes. Any the children can save would be greatly appreciated. They can bring it to their crew class when they return on 30th August.

I hope they enjoy the rest of their time off and I look forward to seeing them on our return. See you all soon.

Thanking you in advance. Miss Shields
