MI are working really hard in order to get their work on the beautiful work display 🙂

Today we looked at and discussed the life cycle of a plant. We used a video clip to get us going then worked in mini crews on an activity to assess our knowledge of the clip. We then had a go at acting out the life cycle using the terms we had just looked at in mini crews. We then created a class anchor chart to show this. We have some great actors in MI!

Today we pretended to be the Big, Bad Wolf and crept quietly to Granny’s house. When we got there her bed was empty, we think she’d been scared by all the howling! Some brave wolf’s even tried out Granny’s bed!!
Today, we have been writing PP4 of our writing. We have had to spend time practicing how to compose sentences that make sense as well as how to use the chotting to support our writing.

We played a game of hand up, stand up, pair up to help recap the information we have learned so far from our text. It’s always good to get ourselves up and moving but also to speak with partners who aren’t in our table.

During our last 2 lessons in reading, we have been familiarising ourselves with text marking. This is a skill we are teaching and guiding the children with as it is important children can text mark in a way that will support their understanding.
This is a skill we will continue to develop during the Autumn term with the aim that children will be more independent in the Spring term.

Today, we are learning about the inverse, the relationship between addition and subtraction. we made numbers with playing cards and made fact families sentences.➖➕🟰

In science this week we were very interested to learn about the difference types of plants and explored their characteristics. On our tables, we explored ferns, conifers and flowering plants. We then dissected a flowering plant and narrated the parts of a flower. Some of us even challenged ourselves to green standard to become successful at the end of the lesson and made our own classification key to classify the plants. Great work Crew Mcloughlin, we have budding scientists in the making!

Crew Shields got to celebrate their food attendance last week by having extra playtime. Some of the children chose to play football while others played tiggy tyres maths. If they fell off the tyres then they were asked a maths questions. Great fun had by all.

This afternoon, Crew Shields practiced some football Skills in preparation for the tournament coming up in a couple of weeks.
