Super shadow puppets! 🔦

In expedition this afternoon we investigated how shadows change. First, we made our own puppets. Then, we started our investigation. We wanted to find out what happened when we moved the object closer or further away from the light source. We found out that when the object is closer to the light source, the shadow gets bigger. When the object is moved further away from the light source, the shadow gets smaller.

Hansel and Gretel drama

In today’s experience lesson we read the last part of the tale of Hansel and Gretel. Once they had gone into the house they found out it was a nasty witch who owned it. The witch kept Hansel in a cage to fatten him up to eat and made Gretel do lots of horrible jobs. We loved acting out the different parts of the end of the story. Our favourite bit was when Gretel pushed the witch into the oven and they found all of her treasure so they were rich!

We had some great acting and super listening ears and magnet eyes in the audience!

E Safety

In crew today we have been learning about the importance of keeping ourselves online. This is an aspect we have spoke about before as it is essential that we conduct ourselves responsibility online. We thought about how to keep smart online and if we were worried about something then we ~ stop, close and tell someone. We were able to identify some of the issues that we may encounter online and how important it is to speak to others. We then created some posters with ideas of how to stay safe online.

A new writing unit in MI

Today we started to think about our next piece of writing, a monologue that will be used in our final product. Our experience lesson allowed us to think about what a monologue was and the features needed. We then unpicked an example together exploring all the features. One of these features were rhetorical questions. We explored these further in an extract and then changed a variety of statements into rhetorical questions. We really enjoyed doing this 🙂 We then looked at a variety of video clips on the Northern tiger cat, the endangered animal that our monologue will be based on. We chotted facts on the animals appearance, diet, habitat and why it is at threat. We will use these ideas when we come to write. We are all excited about our new writing unit.

The start of road safety week…

This morning we had a great crew discussion about road safety. We talked about how to keep ourselves safe when we are out and about especially about focussing on what can distract us and drivers. We also talked about what we needed to wear, where best to cross the road and explored the green code code. Finally, we played a game at the end to put into practise what we had learnt. Lots of us got 7/7!
