Today in maths, we built on our previous knowledge of interpreting pictograms and used this to help us draw pictograms. The most important thing to do is read the key! Once you know what the key is, you can draw the symbols for the pictogram!
In PE today, we continued to work on our skills needed for rounders. First, we warmed up by practicing our underarm throw. We remembered that we had to step forward with our opposite leg so we are balanced. We had to make sure we were ready to catch the ball by looking at our partner with our hands out ready. Then, we did the exact same but practicing the overarm throw. Again, we had to use the opposite foot when setting forward and make sure our throwing elbow was in line with our shoulder. We then discussed what a “no-ball” is in rounders. The umpire calls no-ball when the bowler bowls the ball too high (above the head), too low (below the knee) too wide (out of the batting square) or too close (no ball body). We then had a mini game to put all the skills into practice. We had a bowler, batter, back stop, umpire and some fielders. We really enjoyed todays PE lesson and can’t wait to continue to practice these skills next week.
In our latest computing session we learnt all about what debugging is (which doesn’t actually have anything to do with real life bugs!), how we identify them in an algorithm and how we can fix them! We then had a go at doing some ‘debugging’ ourselves. We worked in pairs and used maps and directions to spot the ‘bug’. We were really good at this! As a crew we then had a go at rewriting the correct algorithm. We then finished the lesson by sharing everything that we had learnt about ‘debugging’!
Today, in nursery, we looked at different sea shells and described how they felt. The children came up with lots of good adjectives like, bumpy, smooth, soft, hard, rough, spikey and white.
We also have been learning about number 1 and practicing our number formation in maths. We are getting smart at recognising numeral 1 and objects by themselves.
Crew MW had a wonderful day on Monday! We got on a coach and went to visit Cleethorpes! As part of our expedition learning, we wanted to experience the seaside and the difference between Carcroft and Cleethorpes. We spent the day playing in the sand, building sand castles, paddling, playing with the parachute and talking about what we could see. It was so lovely to see so many happy, excited faces as we explored! We can’t wait to do our writing about what we saw.
In our dance lesson today we created a crew safari dance, we looked out for the different animals that we might see when going on safari and how they might look and move. We are getting so good at counting to 8 in our head so we are all time!
Today we finished our book of “Our Tower” the children met a man in the tree who gifted them a stone with a hole in it, the stone gave them a different view of the world. Once leaving the magical inside of the tree the children decided to use this to view their city. This now looked completely different through their viewpoint – the once grey and dull city no longer looked dull and boring but now looked fun with people having picnics and playing, the sun was shining and everyone was having fun.
It left us thinking that if you change your view on something it might not be as bad as it seems.
Today we wrote the first chunk of our first plot point. We are creating our own narrative using a clip for our stimulus. Today we used our chotting from last week to help us to create a shared write on our character. We described Tadeo Jone’s appearance and personality whilst using expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and similes. We are excited to move onto the setting of our story 🙂 Some great work MI!
What an amazing maths lesson we had today! We explored a clock thinking about the minute and hour hands then looked at o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. We showed different times on our clocks and also had a try at writing the time. We will continue to work on our time knowledge tomorrow where we will explore other time intervals.
In computing, we completed the next 2 lessons which helped us understand what is a website and understand the use of a router. We discussed how it worked before drawing a diagram to help us understand how it works.
