Today we have learnt about mummies and babies and how the scientific word for this is “offspring”. We matched the mums to their offspring and learnt what each of their babies were called.

After finishing our balanced arguments, we have been preparing for our independent writing. Today we carried on the excellent work in PE by enjoying some argument tennis to help us to think of ways that we can share our opinions on a range of topics. We also discussed the importance of the planning process in becoming writers and are looking forward to planning our own balanced arguments tomorrow to help us really show off our writing skills!

Our mosaic art pieces are really coming together 🙂

In our book talk lessons this week, we have focussed on developing our inference skill. We first read the text and text marked anything we didn’t understand and things we found important. We made a class glossary of the words we had picked from the text. Then, we looked at answering some inference based questions whilst skimming and scanning the text.

This morning, we have completed our planning in preparation for writing the rest of the week. This allowed us to collect some good vocabulary, fronted adverbial and ideas so we have a good starting point for writing tomorrow.

This morning on Scotties, we’ve been outside working on our team building. We had engineers and medics who had additional responsibilities to ensure the survival of their team. Some great team work from the Crew.
Yesterday morning, we had a crew Challenge where we partnered up. One partner had to give the instructions while the other drew based on the instructions.
When we debriefed, the crew said they found things challenging because of not being able to hear, instructions not being clear or not knowing what they meant. Despite the final images, the crew really enjoyed this activity as you’ll be able to tell from their faces in the pictures.

This week in P.E, Crew Boswell have been practicing their tennis skills. We have been learning to over arm serve.🎾

We have looked at what it means to double a number and to put this into practise, we used our special doubling cauldron! Whatever we put into the cauldron… double the amount came out! We worked well together to predict what we thought would come out of the magic doubling cauldron before checking the answer using accurate counting.
