Cereal boxes needed

After Easter, Crew Shields will be completing an activity that requires cereal boxes. Could we please ask that you keep and send in any empty cereal boxes for us? We will need them for the first week back after Easter.

Thank you.

Arithmetic progression in MI

Today children in MI completed an arithmetic paper. We have been working so hard on all areas of arithmetic ensuring we are thinking about the methods we need to use. I am blown away by the results today and scores are reflecting the hard work MI are putting in. It is so lovely to see children’s faces when they have shown improvements and it is also fantastic to see children applying all the skills that they have been taught. I am so proud of you all, keep up the hard work 🙂

Sketching techniques

Yesterday, we explored a range of sketching pencils and how they create a different effect when using sketching techniques. When we’d had an opportunity to use each of the pencils, we had a go at applying this to a small section of Edgar Degas artwork.

MI continue writing their newspaper reports

Today we continued to write our newspaper reports where we used some direct speech to quote what the victims wife would have said about the events that had happened. We used the knowledge we had gained in our grammar lesson earlier in the morning to write our quotes effectively, remembering all the features of speech.

MI maths learning

We explored patterns and fractions in our magic maths lesson then we moved onto capacity in our main maths lesson. We converted between ml and L when answering questions and used our knowledge of dividing and multiplying by 1000 to help us with this. There was lots of great collaboration throughout the lesson today, great work MI 🙂

Art – Edgar Degas

It has been lovely today as we started our 3rd and final case study of our current expedition. Children were researching Edgar Degas who was a french impressionist known for his drawings of ballerinas.

As a crew we had the opportunity to recreate some of his work using skills we have learning previously. The children have done a super job considering they don’t particularly like art as they feel it is the subject they are least confident in. However, they did not let this deter them from putting 100% effort in. It was especially nice hearing them share in crew how they felt happy because they thought they’d be terrible but had actually done a really good job.

People who are special to us 💕

Crew Welburn have spent the week thinking about the special ladies in their lives before Mother’s Day on Sunday. From their Grandmas and Nanas, to their Mums, sisters and Aunties, the children have loved talking about the people who are special to them 💕
