Today we started thinking about our next piece of writing, a character description. We focussed on the appearance of the character from our newspaper article, chotting lots of different language and vocabulary that we could use. We then started to think about figurative language and built some ideas in mini crews. We then applied some of the chotting we did to our own sentences. We will use these tomorrow when we start to write our plot point.

Today we explored a new text, answering a range of comprehension questions. Some of us even challenged ourselves further by pushing for green standard. A great reading lesson MI 🙂

Some great thinking today in our maths learning 🙂

We have been looking at the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar which has led to us looking at the life cycle of a butterfly.
We’ve talked about each stage of the life cycle and used pasta to represent the life cycle. We have even got our own caterpillars that will eventually turn into butterflies for us to release into our outdoor environment! We check in on them every day to make sure they are eating enough to get bigger, they will then become cocoons before turning into beautiful butterflies 🦋 They have already grown A LOT and we can’t wait to see how big they will get.

With the lovely sunshine we’ve been having, it was an ideal time to explore shadows and how they are formed. In Crew we had a challenge – to form ‘friendly shadows’ 👥👥 It was great fun to debrief watching the clouds move quickly by 🌤️

Here in EYFS we all absolutely LOVE playing with water, whatever the weather!
This week we have been playing with the water tray outside, as well as collecting water in buckets and using paintbrushes to paint different surfaces. We have even tried finding new ways to transport water from one end of the playground to another! We also realised that when we painted things with the water it made them look really shiny! Making sure we are safe is important to us, so when we wanted to paint the taller parts of the shutters, we made a sturdy base and climbed up carefully so that we could reach. Miss McGlone was really impressed with how well we kept each other safe and how we used teamwork to collect and stack items to make our base!

Today, we invited the wonderful ladies in our lives to join us for a Mother’s Day brunch. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and it was a really enjoyable morning!

Our beautiful butterfly Mother’s Day cards and bunches of daffodils ready for our special ladies 🦋💖

With all the wet weather we have been experiencing, we have had lots of bugs crawling around our outdoor area. We have REALLY enjoyed digging for worms, rescuing them from puddles and seeing how many worms we can find!
