Today, the children have been busy filming this years nativity extravaganza. Watch this space for the film premiere of Away In A Manger 2021.
What a busy week we’ve had! We have worked hard to develop our art skills, working alongside Natasha Clarke, a very talented, local artist. She helped us to perfect our sketching and painting skills ready for our final products. We had so much fun!
We have also been working hard to develop our Crew building skills by solving some tricky challenges. Our favourite one this week was creating ‘The Leaning Tower of Feetza’. Who could build the tallest tower using only our shoes! It was so much fun! We have some true leaders in Crew Godley.
In our expeditionary writing this week we have been researching the inspirational, Wilma Rudolph. We found out what an incredible woman she was, who never gave up despite so many challenges in her young life. We were blown away by her determination and the fact that she had 21 siblings! Nearly the size of our Crew!
We have really tried to focus on our HoWL score this week in all 3 areas (work hard, get smart and be kind). Our crew have been determined to make sure we are making the right choices to show what beautiful work we can produce when we are focused. Slight disappointment this week when we reflected on our HoWLS as some crew members have found it tricky this week to keep on top of those 3’s. However, I would like to praise those children in Crew Godley who have achieved the golden 4’s this week! Keep up the great work I am so proud of you 😊
We have continued our work in art, by continuing to focus on the work of Quentin Blake, we have critiqued our work this week and I was blown away by the maturity of the children, they had some very thought notices, praises and wonders.
Over the next week, we will be creating our own heroes in the style of Quentin Blake. We can’t wait! We are ever so excited to be lucky enough to have a visit from Natasha Clarke. She is a talented local artist, who is going to help the crews create portraits of famous heroes as part of our finished product. You can see some of her amazing artwork here.
In maths, we have been investigating 10’s, identifying ten more and ten less. Using our equipment has really helped us and the crew were eager to extend this in their morning tasks 🔟
Have a great weekend everyone 😊
What a great week we have had in KS1 celebrating maths week. We’ve all worked hard to produce beautiful work by challenging ourselves to complete some fantastic maths. We’ve incorporated our maths into al, aspects of the curriculum and taken part in some some great sporting activities whilst also using our number knowledge ⚽️ Keep up the great work KS1 and enjoy your weekend ☺️
We would just like to thankyou 🙏 to everyone involved in ensuring our Walkathon event was a roaring success. We have made a great start towards our £1500 target.
Currently, our total stands at £840 👏, with some sponsorship still to arrive in school. Please could any remaining sponsorship be sent into school this week.
We would like to praise the determination shown by all the children as they worked hard to complete their laps.
Super crew work by all!
At 11am, KS1 stopped to pay their respects. We have been looking at the significance of poppies during crew time this week.
We were really proud of the children.
Our KS1 are already working hard on their 100 laps
Crew Godley really enjoyed working with Coach Luke today to complete some tricky maths challenges! We had such a fantastic time working hard to solve maths problems working against the clock and each other.
What a busy start to our week, celebrating everything great about maths 🧮 🧠
We have kick-started our active maths by investigating place value and number facts to solve problems. The crew agreed on an ‘Activity Challenge’. Our favourite was how many ⭐️ jumps can you do in 1 minute ⏱ ? Jake achieved 75! We estimated, counted our actual, recorded and discussed positions 🥇. So many skills involved 🧠
This week, sees our Walkathon 🏃♀️ event taplace. We have our fingers crossed for good weather so that we can complete our 100 laps and have some fun in the process. Please could we ask that any sponsor money be sent to school this week.
Have a great week everyone ☺️
