Crew Godley love a Crew Challenge

Today I’ve reflected on how far we’ve come as a crew this year and I truly believe this is down to our support and compassion for one and other. Each week we complete our Crew Challenge and this week has shown how much trust we have in each other. Our challenge was to work in smaller crews and pass water down the line, backwards, whilst we remained forward facing. The trust, speaking and listening skills and support for each other, absolutely blew me away. I’m so proud we have such a caring and resilient crew. Here’s a few photos of this weeks challenge and ones we’ve carried out in the past! We can’t wait to see what next week brings! #wearecrew

KS1 Delve into the depths of the Marina Trench

Crew Godley and Crew Longley developed their artistic skills today to highlight the importance of recycling our plastic to ensure it does not end up in the Oceans. We were fascinated to observe the Marina Trench and the impact of pollution on the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean. We used multi media to create art work to show the impact of pollution on the marine life.

Year 2 being geographical artists!

A fantastic first day back. The crews have settled back in really well and worked hard to produce beautiful work today.

We have continued learning about our expedition The Circle of Life: How will what I do today impact the world tomorrow?

The crews have been thinking about the changing seasons by producing some beautiful art work.

Well done!

KS1’s Ocean Adventure

Children had an amazing time learning about the oceans, life in the oceans and sharks during their visit to The Deep today.

We took a deep dive under the oceans in one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world 🌎 🐠 🦈🦑 🦀

We enjoyed a fantastic workshop exploring creatures great and small which reside in the oceans. We also modelled some diving equipment – our teacher couldn’t believe how smart we were with the background knowledge we’ve already acquired within a week of launching our expedition. We worked hard which in turn made sure we extended our knowledge of the oceans. Our crews had had a wonderful time. They children were a credit to the school 😊Keep on eye out for TWITP for some more snaps of the day 🦈

KS1 Visit to The Deep tomorrow 13.01.2022

Years 1 and 2 are visiting The Deep tomorrow, in Hull.

The coach will leave school promptly in the morning, we are aiming for 8.50am once we have all children in school and registered. Classroom doors will open at 8.25am in the morning to enable us to ensure the children are ready in time.

Please note, children MUST come to school in uniform, including their red / jumper cardigan. Children can wear comfortable, sensible footwear, for example, trainers or boots. Children who are on school dinners do not need a packed lunch, this is provided by school. The children have chosen their sandwich option.

When the coach returns to school we will take the children back to their Crew base to dismiss. This will ensure that all children are kept safe, as you will appreciate dismissing children from the coach onto a busy playground and close to a main road is far from ideal, so please be patient with us. Your children’s safety is our priority.

Home Learning

So many of our crew have been so excited by their home learning this week! Well done to those children who’ve completed so many of the tasks, we’ve seen some fantastic progress, especially on Times Tables Rockstars 🎸

Homework sheets will be sent home on a Monday, please return these on a Friday. A simple tick on the bottom column for reading will show us that you’ve read with your child for 10mins a day, this could be using one of the apps which are on the home learning menu, a favourite book or even a reading challenge you set them!

We use all of the apps in school so the children are familiar with them 😊

Keep up the great work everyone!

PE Day Update

Crew Godley’s PE days are on a Wednesday and a Friday for this half term 😊

Can all parents and carers please ensure children are in the correct uniform for PE. We do have spare PE kits for those children who may need one. Our PE kit is as follows:

Plain dark tracksuit bottoms or leggings (shorts in summer)   – White / Red t-shirt / with or without a logo  – Red jumper/or sweatshirt hoodie with or without logo  – Plain black trainers / plain black pump style shoes (for girls).

Thank you for your continued support 😊

Welcome back KS1!

KS1 Crews were so excited to launch their new expeditions this week, ‘The Circle of Life – How will what I do today impact the world tomorrow?’

The children were hooked into their learning by working together as artists and sculptors to create their own own ocean dioramas, craft sea creatures and participated in a virtual author workshop to learn how to create some of the beautiful illustrations that we found in our core text ‘The Blue Giant’. We have some budding artists! Keep you eyes peeled for the finished ocean dioramas on Monday!

This week we visit The Deep, in Hull. We can’t wait to go on an ocean adventure!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone 😊

KS1 New Expedition

This half term the children will be starting their new expedition – Circle of Life: How will what I do today affect the world tomorrow?

As part of this expedition the children will be completing three case studies:

  • Case Study 1: Science – Animals and their lifecycles
  • Case Study 2: Geography – Weather, seasons, seas and continents
  • Case Study 3 : Art – Recycled sculpture.

Next week the children will be visiting The Deep. Please could we ask that all consents have been completed and lunches ordered. Please contact the office team if you have any queries.

As always, we would love to hear from any local experts. We would really like to hear from anybody who has knowledge of birds, as part of the Big School’s Birdwatch, animals or any geographers.

Throughout the expedition, you can visit the expedition website to see what the children have been learning about and seeing pictures and examples of the completed work.

If your child is isolating, this week’s work can be found by clicking this link. There are some hook activities to complete along with the children in school.
