Caterpillar watch Crew FE.

Well, we now have 5 cocoons and have gently transferred the very wriggly cocoons into the butterfly net.

We had to carefully remove all the caterpillar webbing to ensure the butterflies won’t get caught in them when they hatch. It was a nervous process, ensuring we didn’t disturb the cocoons.

Hopefully it won’t be too much longer to wait until we see wings!

Caterpillar Watch Crew FE.

Hope everyone is enjoying their half term!

I just wanted to give a little update on the caterpillars of crew FE. 🐛

We now have cocoons! 3 fat caterpillars have made their way to the top of the tub to create their cocoons and 2 more wriggly caterpillars are still enjoying the food before turning themselves.

Once all 5 caterpillars have spun their cocoons they will be transferred to the butterfly net. Can’t wait to see them transform!

Spring is here!

Crew nursery have been looking for signs of spring this week! They have noticed that the weather is much warmer and that the sun is shining. The children have been discussing the animals, plants and insects that they might see in spring. They have planted their own sunflower seeds and they went on an exciting bug hunt! They found snails and ladybirds in Carcroft’s ‘Bugingham Palace’. The children used the play dough to create spring chicks and they used their building skills to design and make safe houses for chicks in the construction area.
