LKS2 children enjoyed sharing their expedition work with UKS2 on Friday afternoon. What a wonderful way to finish the week. It was lovely to see how engaged the children were and how impressed our crew were with UKS2’s handwriting.

In our science lesson today we have looked at food chains and discussed who eats who. Look at the two food chains we organised.
Today in maths we continued with our work on ratio but we also linked this to fractions. A great understanding by all 🙂 Great focus today everyone.
Today we really explored how to answer 3 mark questions around impressions. We recapped how we use APE to answer these type of questions, ensuring we use evidence from the text to support answers. We looked at a given example and unpicked the amount of marks the answer was worth linking to the impressions and evidence given. We tried hard to use the rules of critique when doing this. We then tried to give our own impressions of a character, using the text to support us.
Today we celebrated E-Safety day thinking about how we keep ourselves and others safe online. We enjoyed discussing this years theme, ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’ There were lots of great discussions around this topic which raised many different ideas and allowed us to really challenge our thinking around certain themes. We then decided that we wanted to showcase all of our thoughts together around staying safe online. We all took one of the stands we had thought of as a crew and showed our ideas on online safety. Here you can see our final version altogether. Some great discussions, ideas and posters today MI 🙂
Wow, wow, wow! Some incredible writing in MI this week 🙂 Children have edited and redrafted their diary entries and have shown real dedication and resilience doing this. They have really shown such positive attitudes, using their target grids to ensure they are using all of the features needed. Super proud MI 🙂
In crew, we have been learning about the importance of keeping ourselves online. This is an aspect we have spoke about before as it is essential that we conduct ourselves responsibility online. We were able to identify some of the issues that we may encounter online and how important it is to speak to others. We then created some posters with ideas of how to stay safe online.
During our writing day, we have been unpicking some text to identify adverbs, prepositional phrases and subordinate clauses. We worked with our shoulder partner to find these and then created a bank of adverbials to support us in our writing.
We discussed that it was important that when selecting an adverbial for our writing that we are able to demonstrate how it would fit within the writing.
Max has really blown me away today with how much resilience he showed in outdoor provision this morning. He wasn’t too sure about climbing across the climbing frame once he had worked out how to get up but with a little bit of encouragement he was soon off, exploring all the different parts of the frame as he went. Each time he saw me he said he had climbed a bit further, or a bit higher and he was finding different ways to get to the other side that he had not tried before. It really put a big smile on my face and I felt very proud of Max!
This week we have had a mini hook week introducing us to our next Case Study – ‘What happens when we plant a seed?’
The sand in our sand tray has magically turned into soil and we have been using gardening tools and plant pots to make ’soil castles’.
We have also been making our own succulent pots in the playdough area, using brown playdough, plant pots, leaves and decorative stones to create mini succulent plants.
We have also been sorting different parts of a flower in the tuff tray. We’ve been deciding whether it is a stem, leaf, petal or full flower and putting it in the correct section. The petals are really soft to touch and the flowers smell beautiful!
