First week back the children have been doing cardboard flower pots where they had to pick flowers and then use their fine motor skills to thread them through the holes. The children really enjoyed this and said it was very relaxing while sat on the school field in the sun.
Outside learning
In XP Outdoors today we had to find something straight, green, beautiful etc. We then shared everything we found with each other and noticed how all chose different items.

Who can build the tallest tower?
In crew today we competed against each other to build the tallest tower out of paper and sellotape.

Stem Project – Pulleys
We ended our hook week with a stem project that required us to use our problem solving skills. Children were given a range of resources and they had to use these to create a pulley system. We linked this to how in the olden days. miners and other industries would have relied on systems like this to help them move large loads of coal.
This activity really challenged our resilience as there were a few different steps that needed to be completed to allow them to successful. We managed some of the steps but then required some clues to support with the rest.
