Super scientists! 🥼🧑‍🔬

In expedition today, we set up our experiment. First we thought of a title for our experiment “How does temperature of water change when using different materials?”. Then, we came up with a prediction – what we thought would happen in this experiment. We had some great ideas such as “the water in the glass cup will be hotter because it will act like a blanket and keep the heat in.” We then wrote our equipment list. Finally, we set up our experiment. We can’t wait to record the results and finish writing our science report. 🥼✍️

Challenge crew 👂🔂

In challenge crew, we played a game called jump in, jump out. First, we circled up and had to follow instructions “jump in” “jump out” “jump left” and “jump right”. We noticed some of us struggled with left and right so we had to work together and communicate to achieve this. Then, we moved onto a challenge and had to do what Miss Thompson said but chant back the opposite. For example if Miss Thompson said “jump left” we jumped left but had to say “jump right”. This definitely required lots of thinking and turned our brains on this morning 🧠🤔

A sensory experience!

In Crew MW we have been looking at using our descriptive vocabulary during provision. We set up a sensory tray using soap and conditioner and got stuck in! We swirled, squeezed, squiggled and splatted while talking about what we could smell, describing the smell as delicious, coconut, sweet, milky, and how the texture felt using, oozing, soft, sticky, fluffy! We had so much fun exploring and writing in the mixture.

Finding pairs in maths

Last week in maths, we begun looking at pairs. We started off by taking items from a basket and finding our pair within the room. Next, Miss Welburn set us a challenge of pairing up all of the wellies from our pegs. We worked really hard to pair them all up and explained how we knew that they were pairs using size, patterns and colours.

Scientific report

In our science lesson today, we wrote up our scientific reports from our investigation, which was investigating temperatures of water in a glass and in a plastic cup (which represents the greenhouse affect). We started by writing our own predictions.

Book talk continues in MI

Lots of great reading today in MI 🙂 We spent lots of time reading the text over and over. We read independently out loud, we read with our partner and we took part in a chorus read. We explored our new vocabulary and text marked this as we read. We were confident with the questions in our reasons to read and used the text well to support some of our answers. We loved our exit ticket where we had to use all the knowledge we had learnt from reading the text to draw and label our vision of Egypt. We shared these with our partners and then as a whole crew 🙂
