We have had a thrilling Thursday in Crew Wilson!
Highlight of the day:
Finishing our shields in the afternoon expedition lesson, as the crew collaborated so well on their designs, ensuring they were beautifully decorated but also reflected their personalities, and they also got the classroom back into ship shape without being asked! We have really enjoyed making our weapons and we cannot wait to test them out in our battle after half term!
Howl Heroes:
🟥Work Hard: Dalton and Luke for their perseverance and concentration in phonics today, we managed to get through our whole session super quickly and had time to practice reading 25 tricky green words, well done boys!
🟦Get Smart: Mia for her consistent improvement towards her listening and attitude to learning, you have had a fantastic week, keep it up Mia!
🟩Be Kind: Jake for working well alongside others and offering his help when he could see people were struggling, well done Jake!
Howl Average:
3.4 – a great end to our week, still not the fabulous 4 we had hoped for but watch this space after half term!
Exciting news!
We are not yet an XP trust school but it won’t be long now. Therefore, the trust have invited us to be a part of their ‘This Week in the Trust (TWITT)’ video collection. A very exciting way for Carcroft to end a very busy half term…
We are proud to be working with the XP Trust and it’s lovely to be a part of this fabulous weekly showcase. Can you spot anyone from CPS?
This will become a weekly event and will be posted on our website every Friday afternoon. Not only does this go out to our school, this goes out to all XP schools so your child’s beautiful work really is on show across the whole of Doncaster. Amazing! 🙌 Proud of you all 🤩
Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and patience this half term. Unlike the media suggests, CPS is very much open this term and has been since our return in January. Our staff are juggling around 220 pupils onsite daily and a further 90 at home. I am extremely proud of each and everyone of them. They’ve done a fabulous job! However, we are also extremely grateful to our parents who are supporting our remote learners, ensuring that they are online and submitting work daily. We know it’s not been an easy task for you. Your resilience and patience has been amazing- thank you so much for this. Ensure you get plenty of rest next week too as you deserve it.
I’m now signing off from what has been a tiring half term but I’m signing off feeling incredibly proud of our community once again.
Stay safe everyone.
See you all back on Monday 22nd February either on-site or online.

Pancake Thursday
Highlight of the Day:
Today we explored pancake today and why we celebrate it.
We were lucky enough to have Miss Thiede who is an exert pancake maker help us to make our very own! We thought carefully about the ingredients we would need, where these ingredients came from and what happens to them when they are mixed.
We had great fun and they tasted delicious!

HoWL Heroes
Today I couldn’t choose one HoWL hero. Our crew all worked so hard today so we decided that we would all have a HoWL hero point for being kind and working hard together, as a crew! Well done everyone, have a lovely half term holiday.
We had such a busy day in nursery yesterday! We had a lovely baking day to finish the week 👩🏻🍳🧑🏼🍳 We made heart biscuits for our valentine and we made pancakes for pancake day next week 🥞 We learn so much through baking activities and the best part is we get to eat them 😋 We covered maths skills when we measured the ingredients, trying to be careful to add the correct amount. We used a rolling pin to roll the mixture and a cutter for the heart shape which is good for our physical development 💪🏼 We discussed where the ingredients come from and observe what happens when we cook them. Sooo much learning 🤩
We continued our name writing practice, ensuring we are using the correct pencil grip and forming our letters in the right way. We have some children well on their way to being able to write their name without their name cards! Superb! 🤩
A group of children did some mark making with Mr Jones where we learnt to draw a dragon 🐉 We talked about the different shapes we would need and the features on a dragon such as his ‘prickles’ and fire out his mouth! Fantastic work!
Finally, it was a lovely surprise to walk into the classroom and be greeted with a huge ‘happy birthday’ from the children for my birthday next week. Thank you Mrs Godley and all the foundation staff for making it special 💕

Thrilling Thursday! 😁
Today has been another great day in Crew Elmer!
Star moment of the day: ⭐
Today’s star moment has got to be our Hooked on Books lesson this morning. I was really impressed with the children’s knowledge of the different lenses and how well they were able to infer an image given from the text that we have been looking at. 😁👏⭐👍🙌
Todays HoWL average is: 3.1
A great score to end this half term with! Excellent work Crew Elmer! Well done! 🙌⭐🤩
This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0
How can we develop this after half term?
Crew Elmer need to make sure that they get lots of rest over this half term break and then come back refreshed and ready to learn. 🤗📖📝✏📚🏣
Today’s HoWL Hero:
Today’s HoWL Hero was the whole of Crew Elmer! Miss Hart and I felt like the whole of Crew Elmer (including the remote learners) deserved to be HoWL Heroes for their hard work this half term. There have been lots of changes this half term but all of the children have adapted well, so for that reason all of Crew Elmer are little heroes today! Well done Crew Elmer! If you can work this hard next term I think we will achieve a lot as a crew! 👏⭐🤩🙌

What a half term!!
It has been busy but we have achieved a lot! I feel so proud about how far we have come in our writing lessons, and how easy we all find it to use extra grammartastics in our work! I cannot wait to read our next piece!
Have a lovely half term! Get lots of rest and come back well rested and ready for next half term 😊
✨Star moment✨
Star moment today was seeing the children enjoy themselves playing dodgeball, it was great to see them playing with new rules and adapt their tactics and game to win! Excellent Crew Marsh! 👍👍
Average is: 3.1!! 🙌
Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1
How can we develop this tomorrow?
Crew Marsh need to continue to make sure they are fully concentrating on their learning and listening to instructions, we have been chatty again today and I think this is effective our positive attitudes towards our learning.
Howl hero:
Get Smart hero today is Millie!
Millie has produced some beautiful work today! I have been really impressed with how neat your handwriting has been and how much care you have taken! 💕💕
What a terrific Thursday we have had today. We have spent a while today referring back to being a crew.
We have circled up and discussed what we do when we are feeling red and how we can support each other. We have spoken about how it is ok to be angry and feeling red, we just have to come up with strategies to support us.
We have also had our Tutormate scheme start today, where children within year 2 have the opportunity to read with different tutors from around the country. The children have really enjoyed wearing the headphones and speaking to the volunteers. We look forward to continuing this after half term. Xx
