Crew Elmer Daily Blog 25.02.21

Thrilling Thursday! 🤩

We have finally made it to the end of our first week back! 👏 Lots of children are very pleased about this as it has been a long and tiring week for some after a relaxed week off last week!

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment has got to be our ‘Write Stuff’ lesson. I was blown away with how well the children were able to identify a range of key features of a playscript. Children annotated their own copy of a playscript really well, using clear labels and a range of colours. The presentation was amazing! I was further impressed when we did ‘popcorn’ and all crew members could list at least one feature of a playscript as well as some children being able to explain the purpose of the listed feature.

Todays HoWL average is: 2.9

Yay! We have finally got our score back up! This is down to lots of children working really hard in Crew Elmer today! I am also pleased that we have managed to achieve this score despite several crew members still being absent, so well done Crew Elmer!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this next week?

Crew Elmer need to make sure that they all attend school next week or that they access the remote learning being offered so that we can avoid those 1’s. Crew members also need to ensure that they are trying their best to achieve 3’s (minimum expectation) for their HoWLs.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Rowen! Rowen was praised by several crew members for his hard work in reading today and for his confidence in reading aloud in front of the whole class. Rowen also did incredibly well on his Salford Reading Test and made massive progress which we are all very proud of! Rowen also earnt the HoWL hero for working really hard when completing his maths work this morning! Well done Rowen! An amazing day for you! 🙌😁⭐👏

Crew Shields and Crew Longley – 25/2/21

The children have been continuing with their Art case study today by sketching a Roman helmet. This really put our resilience to the test as we had to be patient and precise with our drawing. We used a step by step model which allowed all the children an opportunity to produce beautiful learning. We are looking forward to completing our Mosiac art piece next week and I’ve no doubt they will be amazing!

Crew Longley Average:  2.9

Crew Shields Average : 2.7

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, children need to ensure they are listening carefully to instructions so they can give their learning 100% effort.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Lacey
Lacey blew my socks off in RWI today. She is trying extremely hard to use her fred talk to read but also when she is writing. This is fantastic to see and she should be very proud of herself.

Crew Longley Work Hard Howl Hero – Lydia
In reading, Lydia has been working hard to take on board our focus area each day. She is increasing her WPM score and starting to read with some beautiful expression. I really enjoy hearing her read!

Crew Marsh: 25/02/21

✨Star moment✨

Star moment today was seeing the children annotate a playscript, it was great to see the children use previous knowledge to unpick the different features that you would find in one. I cannot wait to start writing them next week! 😁🙌

Average is: 3.0 – what a nice way to end the week!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh need to think about how they can be a better crew, at the minute we are quick to upset each other rather than being kind and building each other up…. food for thought. We have done a lot better with this today, let’s keep it up next week!

Howl hero:

Get Smart hero today is Mark!

Mark did fantastic in his rapid read intervention, Miss Smith and I were so impressed with his reading and the confidence he built! 🙌✨😁

Be Kind her is Harper!

Harper has made a real effort today to make sure she was being kind to everyone in her crew. Your kindness really stood out, well done!  👌💕

Crew Gerrard Blog 25.2.21

Work hard: Zane – for fantastic effort in our space discussions.

Get smart: Kian – for superb knowledge and facts about Space.

Be kind: Lucas – for looking out for his crew.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.1! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Kent Blog 25.2.21

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.4! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Welburn’s Daily Blog 25.2.2021

Thursday ✅

We’ve got really smart today in Crew Welburn by sharing our ideas in expedition. We worked well as a crew to add more detail to our castle timelines, and we’ve all written some descriptions to show how the castles changed over time.🌟

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Charlie 👏

Get smart: Scarlett 👏

Be kind: Harrylee 👏

HOWL Score: 3.1 Well done Crew Welburn! 🌟🌟

Crew Shields and Crew Longley – 24/2/21

Another busy day in Crew Shields/Longley. The children have been exploring Roman mosaics where they were given the opportunity to create their own collage/mosiac. It was fantastic seeing the children’s different takes on these patterns and their methods to create shapes. We had emojis, trees, stars and patterns using colour.

A child’s definition was: Mosaics are coloured shapes put together to tell a story or make an image.
I couldn’t have put it better myself.

Crew Longley Average:  3.0

Crew Shields Average : 2.8

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, children need to take pride in their learning and ensure they are producing beautiful learning consistently.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Ava
Ava has had more of a positive attitude towards her learning and attempted everything today without giving up. She demonstrated active listening which has shown in today’s learning.

Crew Longley Work Hard Howl Hero – Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn has been trying really hard this week to take onboard all the feedback she has been provided in writing. This was shown today by composing sentences that met the learning target and punctuated accurately.

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 24.2.21

We have had another jam packed day in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

A passing comment in our crew session led us onto a tangent all about space this morning!  We watched the Mars rover land and had a look at how big the planets really are – we were blown away and couldn’t believe how small earth is!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard : Tia for her brilliant attitude to learning today, welcome back!

Get Smart: Daisy for thinking critically and coming up with some great facts about castles.

Be Kind: Toby, Finn and Dalton for being kind on the playground and showing their friends how to play a game that they could all be involved in.

Howl Average:

3.3 – a good improvement with some better listening ears today, let’s keep it going!

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 24.02.21

Wonderful Wednesday!

Yay! Happy Hump Day! 🙌

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment today has got to be the amazing fact files that the children created in our Expedition lesson this afternoon. I was blown away with how many facts the children had retained from Monday’s lesson and how well they were able to present these to inform others about Boudicca and Julius Caesar.

Todays HoWL average is: 2.7

Another slight dip today but I feel this is down to a few crew members being absent which meant they received 1’s and also due to a few fall outs at lunch time today.

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Elmer need to make sure that they attend school if they can in order to avoid those 1’s and those crew members that are in school need to ensure that they are ‘being kind’ at all times of the school day, especially crew playtimes.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Harry. Harry was praised by several of his crew members for being really kind at crew playtimes today. I nominated Harry for HoWL hero for ‘working hard’ in every lesson today! Harry blew us away with his drama work in ‘The Write Stuff’ as well as his fact files in Expedition this afternoon! Great work Harry! Well done! 🙌😁⭐👏
