Crew Boswell – 02.10.20

We have had a busy morning today looking at states of matter and in particular, how water can change from a liquid to a solid or a gas.  It was great to see the children thinking about the scientific language needed to describe the processes accurately.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can continue to push on with our learning and strive for that green standard to improve our get smart scores from last week.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Joseph!

Joseph has been amazing today. He has pushed himself all day to ensure that he has met the green standard for his learning today and was one of experts in maths to support others!

Learning Legend:

Tia has impressed us all in Crew Boswell with her refusal to give up when she finds something hard and her increasing confidence.  She works hard and isn’t afraid to ask for help if she needs it.  She listens carefully and always strives to meet her expected standard and is getting smart.  She always knows to be kind and will even try to help her crew when she can.  We’re glad she’s part of our crew!

Our handwriting hero for this week is Bobby-Joe.

Crew Marsh: 2/10/20

The star moment of the day was our theme lesson, the children loved learning about Carcroft Primary School. They learnt that the school was built in 1913, meaning it is 107 years old! Ask them what they learnt from the punishment book? AND what happened in the School in WW2?

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3! 🙌

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Next week, Crew Marsh need to make sure they are listening and following all instructions.

Crew Shields – 2/10/20

Crew Shields have had a busy morning exploring a range of emotions and how these make use feel. We looked at some scenarios and how we respond to these situations. Some of the children really thought about how their response would change depending on various factors.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Next week, Crew Shields need to continue developing their pace when completing learning their learning activities.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Reece is always polite and tries to help his peers when he can. He will hold the door open and often supports his peers with learning.

Learning Legend:

Chloe is an amazing role model within Crew Shields. She is always eager to support her peers and never has to be asked twice to complete her learning. It is lovely to hear Chloe ask her peers their opinion when completing mini crew activities and gives everyone an opportunity to join in. She tries her best and always has a positive attitude to learning. Well done Chloe

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 01/10/20

Good evening!

We have had an amazing day enjoying no pen day and giving our hands a rest. I am certain we will be even more ready to write some beautiful work tomorrow.

Anyone could have won the HoWL heroes today, but the lucky three that stood out to Mrs Bidmead are…

Get smart: Lacey 🦸‍♀️

Being Kind: Harry 🦸‍♂️

We are super happy that our HOWL average today is 3.1! We’ve really focused on what each HoWL means and implemented this throughout the day. Well done Crew Mcloughlin you are superstars!🤩

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 1.10.20

Today was party day to celebrate the children returning to school 🥳 We celebrated with a party lunch of pizza or hot dogs which went down a treat 😋 One child was lucky enough to win a free month of Kixx Academy! ⚽️

We practised using our listening ears and went out on a listening walk to see what sounds we could hear in the environment. This is an important beginning stage of phonics so we really need to be super listeners! 👂🏼 The children identified sounds such as birds, cars, the wind, an aeroplane and a siren.

In Maths we have looked at colours and pattern using compare bears. The children did fantastic at identifying colours and matching them to the pattern. Some children then created their own patterns with the bears!

HOWL Hero

We have continued working hard on our listening and being kind to each other and I am really proud that this is being embedded within our crew. We are reflecting about if we need reminders to listen and how we can improve.

Being Kind – Bella

Bella is always so kind to her friends and she loves to help tidy up! Bella uses lovely manners and sets a great example to our crew. 🌟

Crew Boswell – 01.10.20

Good evening,

Our star moment today was during our Cojo challenge and the great teamwork and support that was on display.  It was also great to see the whole crew celebrating with Tyler when he found a golden ticket at lunch!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.2

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can push on tomorrow to ensure we all beat our weekly average.  Science and maths could be good lessons to show that we can Get Smart.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Heidi!

Heidi has been fantastic today. She has made sure that others are included and have their voices heard throughout the day.  As her t-shirt said, keep calm and let Heidi handle it.
