Today in PE we developed our teamwork skills, collaborating and communicating. This was key for the tricky challenges we had to complete as a crew. Our first challenge was to ‘cross the river’. The objective was to move across the river, however, we were only allowed to stand inside the hoops without touching the rest of the space on the floor. We could only move the hoops with our hands. It took a lot of communication and resilience!
Our second challenge, the spiders web! This involved a lot of planning and problem solving skills. We could only pass through each segment once, we had to explore how each crew mate could pass through each section without touching the web. I was so proud of the teamwork and resilience we displayed to achieve our goals.
Crew Elmer have created some beautiful art work of the Sun and Moon.We have used a variety of skills and tools to produce these, including dabbing of a sponge and flicking of a toothbrush to create different elements of our image.
Today we used the knowledge we have gained so far on The Blitz to compose a composition of music with different instruments. We then looked at how we can show different beats and started to layer the different parts of our composition. We worked so well in mini crews, encouraging each other and ensuring everyone was involved. Then we all performed our composition to the whole crew 🙂 A great afternoon in MI 🙂
Thank you to all the parents who joined us this afternoon for our first family learning session of the term. It was lovely to see so many children and parents taking part and producing some amazing Van Gogh inspired artwork.
We can’t wait for our next family learning session.

Today we went and explored our forest school to see if we could find some bugs. We were super smart and followed all instructions.
Today we explored the time frames of WW2, we looked at key moments in history and developed our own timelines to record the key facts of WW2. This further developed our understanding of the time frame of WW2 challenging our thinking around our perceptions of a World War. It was surprising to discover that Hitler had died before the war was declared to be over. Declan then deceived to deepen his understanding of some key events by researching, independently.
Time Travel education came into school today and delivered a WW2 workshop that brought events of WW2 to life. We discovered the causes of WW2 and the homefront. We really enjoyed the experience and it helped to kick start our expedition and build on some of the concepts we have already started to explore in crew together.
In year 2 we have been working hard on getting to grips with our new handwriting lines. We have practiced the names of the four different lines and can now recall these independently. Today we practised drawing lines and circles from verbal instructions. The children were absolutely amazing at this and I can’t wait to see how much their handwriting improves as the year progresses.
Time Travel education came into school today and delivered a WW2 workshop that introduced many concepts of WW2. The experience brought events of WW2 to life and children were able to handle a range of objects which we all loved. Children learnt about the causes of WW2, the homefront, The Blitz, kit, equipment and weapons, rationing and evacuees. We really enjoyed becoming shopkeepers where we learnt some of the foods that were rationed! We were shocked by some of our weekly allowances. This experience really helped to kick start our expedition and build on some of the concepts we have already started to explore in class together.
