We love outdoor learning in MI and Boswell…
A great PE session today in Crew MI and Crew Boswell. We love our Scotties Hero’s sessions.

Fun in provision
We’ve had so much fun in provision this morning! The boys really impressed Miss Welburn in the construction area by using the mobile to build models. They followed their instructions and perservered when they were finding it challenging and did not give up! Have a look at some of their creations…

Over lunch time, we explored how to make our own bubble wands. It was a little bit tricky trying to keep our fingers from popping the bubbles, but we got there in the end! Keep up the fantastic work Crew Welburn!

Arithmetic – decimals
In Maths, the children have been applying their addition and subtraction skills to decimal numbers. We discussed the importance of layout and how they need to remember the decimal point.
We then had another grouping with Mrs Rhodes who were looking at multiplying a decimal by 10, 100 and 1000.

Crew Challenge – 15/11/22
Another great challenge from Mrs Rhodes.
This morning the children worked in pairs – one drawing and one giving instructions. As part of the challenge the person had to describe the image with shapes and position to help their partner recreate the image. This is a tricky thing to do as it requires clear precise instructions as well as excellent listening skills. Pleasingly quite a few children managed to accomplish this task.
Beautiful work in MI
Today we took part in a discrete handwriting session then applied our learning to our non chronological reports. These are well on their way now and we all can’t wait to finish them. We have ensured we have produced beautiful work that we are proud of 🙂 Great work MI!

Non chronological report writing
Today we continued to work on our non chronological reports. We thought about our air resistance and water resistance sections before moving onto mechanisms. We used our expedition work to support us with this as well as the anchor charts we had created. We have tried really hard to work on the work hard howl, especially trying our best even when we are challenged.

We have also started assessment week. We completed our grammar, punctuation and spelling test today. Well done MI for ensuring you had a positive attitude throughout.
F2 – Poppy Fork Painting

In Crew Welburn we used our fork painting skills to create pictures of poppies for Remembrance Day. We started by using our forks to print an outline of a poppy flower before using the same printing skills to fill in the middle to create the red petals. After that, we used a round pot to draw around to create a black circle that we then cut it out using scissors. To finish, we glued the black circle in the middle of our flower to create the centre of the poppy. The finished products look absolutely beautiful, I am sure you will agree!

Lest we forget!
LKS2 performed their songs remembering those who lost their lives during past Wars remarkably well! It was such a special occasion as Years 3 and 4 performed at a remembrance service along with Years 1 to 6. The children spoke impressively well and sang beautifully, as the audience watched on respectfully. As part of the service, each Crew laid a poppy wreath at the front of the hall, after creating these wonderful tributes as part of Crew sessions and with each looking unique. Then, as the clocks hit 11, there was an impeccable minutes silence held by all.
This was held alongside our Expedition, as LKS2 researches ‘how war changes lives’. Some children even sang along to the songs that were performed, which was lovely to see.
Check out the video below of the beautiful singing taking place!

Thank you to Miss McGlone for helping prepare the children for the Service, as well as Mrs Wight and Miss Lee for helping the children learn their speaking roles!
We shall remember, on this Remembrance Weekend!
