Bring Back Book Bags! 📖

This week, Crew Hamill have noticed that they have been a little bit forgetful in bringing their book bags to school. They have worked really hard to improve their reading skills so we are now driving to ensure we remember to bring our book bags to school, with our home reading logged by our adults, every day! We have worked together to create this chart that helps us to see who has remembered their book bag and who has left it at home. We’re hoping to see everyone’s book name on the right chart!

Directions on a compass 🧭

This afternoon we spent time learning about a compass and the different directions. We firstly looked at the cardinal directions: North, East, South and West.

Then we looked at the intermediate directions which are North East, south east, south west and north west.

Once we knew the directions, we played a game where we had to follow the directions and see where we ended up.

Orienteering 🧭

Yesterday afternoon, we braved the cold to go on an adventure. We had to use a series of instructions to guide us around the playground where we found some clues. When we returned to class, we worked together to figure out what they said. When we had finished, we discovered that the clues made up the guiding question.

Magic Mathematicians 🪄✨✍️🎨

Today, in Magic Maths, we discussed lines of symmetry on different 2D shapes and how many times we could ‘cut’ them so each side had the same amount. We talked about this meaning they had a line of symmetry- where it is the same on both sides. We then practiced using lines of symmetry to complete the different pictures, trying to make sure that each picture was completed.

We are geographers… 🌍

In our geography lesson, we have looked at what human and physical features are. We firstly worked in groups to cut out the images and then stuck and organised them onto our sheet to show which is human and which is physical. We worked so well in our groups!

We are Geographers 🌎

Today we began our brand new expedition by being geographers.

We recapped some of our previous learning from year 1 and talked about human and physical features. I was very impressed by how much you could all remember. Great work Crew Robson.

Chapter One Meet and Greet

Today the children in Crew Robson and Crew Godley had the pleasure of meeting their amazing Chapter One reading volunteers and finally put a face to the voice. The children read to their volunteer once a week via audio call and it is having a great impact on their reading progress. It was lovely to be able to say thank you to these wonderful people who make time in their busy jobs to read with our children.
