Today we recapped angles from our lesson on Friday. We used our arms to make the 3 different types of angles we had learnt. We explained how we know if an angle is acute, obtuse or a right angle. We then applied our learning to some different questions, using our partners for support. From here we started to compare angles using the symbols < > = We named the angle first then used the correct symbol to compare. We then applied our learning to lollipop sticks and practised making and comparing angles with these. Next we looked at comparing 3 or more angles and then ordered them from smallest to the biggest. We applied our knowledge to a variety of questions then practised a little more with our lollipop sticks.

Today we were very lucky to be able to have a video call live for the Project Polar at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We were able to ask lots of questions and found out lots of information about the polar bears who live in Doncaster. We found out their skin is black and their fur is see through, they like to eat lots and meat and they enjoy playing with lots of different toys. A huge thank you to Alex who made sure we saw the polar bears swimming, walking and snoozing!

In maths this week, we have been learning about angles and turns. Today, we learnt the terms acute, right and obtuse to describe angles and created our own.

During this week, we have recapped our learning on solids, liquids and gases and then applied this when learning about reversible and irreversible changes.

After that, we investigated what substances would dissolve in water 💦

During our reading for pleasure time, we have started a new book ‘Jungle Book’ and we are loving it! Some of us even took it in turns to read the book, making sure we read confidently and with expression. We are excited to see what happens next!

Before half term, we had been learning about mass and capacity and what better way to apply what we had learnt than making pancakes! Carefully, we worked in groups to measure out the ingredients accurately. Finally, we added on our toppings of choice and then we got to eat them- delicious 😋

In today’s lesson we learnt about search engines: what they are and why we use them. It was great to explore and see who could find information the fastest. We then discussed how reliable to information was. It was great to see Crew MI helping each other too.

Last week, in Crew, we thought about what makes us unique and special. We acted out scenarios and thought about how the people felt in them and why. We offered advice but also reflected on what we would have done. It was a great session to celebrate everyone’s ‘uniqueness’ and how we are all special and contribute to this world in our own ways.
In Crew Haddock we have been writing about Ice Age – The Meltdown .Today we typed it up on the computer 🖥
