Crew Gerrard and Crew Flaherty have been learning about the journey of a refugee. We watched some spectacular drone footage and jotted down several countries that refugees fleeing Afghanistan can pass through, including the different types of transport taken. We were shocked to say the least! We then practiced using coordinates to plot a journey of a refugee in our next lesson! Check out our images from today below: 🇦🇫
What a great lesson, fully of collaborative learning from Crew Gerrard. Some of our more confident mathematicians wanted to help those who were less confident with multiplying in column method. It was great to see how much confidence grew, as we all worked brilliantly together, to get smarter. Well done Crew Gerrard! 😆
LKS2 produced some really beautiful work, as they created storyboards for their next piece of writing. It was great to see their imagination and what fantastic vocabulary they could use to help them with their future writing lessons.
We’d also like to say a massive well done and praise the pride the children have put into their work this week, especially in writing! 😃
Just to confirm that Crew Gerrard have non-uniform tomorrow. Crew Flaherty and Crew Marsh will be wearing uniform.
Today in LKS2, we have been completing our Experience Day. Together, we worked in small groups to provide key information about the first three chapters of our new book ‘Running on the Roof of the World’. The children were read to and then shared summaries of their chapter, which will help us with our writing over the next few weeks! Check out the photos below!
Busy Thursday! (18.11.21)
It’s been a really busy day in Crew Gerrard. We’ve enjoyed our extra 15 minutes of break time that we earned on our Howl-opoly spin. I know we loved spending more time out doors! 😃
This afternoon we then worked on consolidating our knowledge of column method, with addition and subtraction. This was great fun and it was great to see our Crew work collaboratively to help others gain more confidence and ‘get smart’.
Enjoy the long weekend Crew G and see you on Tuesday for another busy week! 😆
Crew Gerrard Expedition (17.11.21)
What a great Expedition lesson we had this afternoon, as we continued to learn about human and physical features as part of Case Study 2: Geography. We looked at London to see how it differed from Kabul, Afghanistan (in our previous lesson). We used maps and images of London to see what features we could spot.
I was really pleased with the hard work I saw and how calmly we participated with popcorn and think pair share, during our active lesson. Keep up the good work Crew Gerrard! 😆
Crew Gerrard Maths Week Blog (10.11.21) ✖️➕➖
We’ve had another fantastic day of maths in Year 3 today! We’ve continued working on multiplications and used dice to help us create groups of, multiplication facts and arrays! We enjoyed it, as it was active and collaborative. We’re feeling super confident about our multiplications 💪 Check out our images below:
Maths Week!
Today, we have been working on our maths. We started the session by recapping shapes in Magic Maths. This tested our knowledge on equal sided shapes, name shapes and how many we could see in a picture!
Then we worked on multiplication. We recapped the language, such as repeated addition, groups of and multiplied by so that we felt comfortable with returning to multiplication, before we take the next step. This is really important and we were super stars with it today, during our practical lesson! Check out some images below:
Conversation Club (8.11.21)
Yesterday, Year 3 and 4 were very lucky to be able to talk to the Conversation Club. The Conversation Club help refugees settle into the country, after escaping their home for fear of being unsafe. LKS2 were interested in hearing about their journey over and how long it will take them to settle into life. This was really important to understand that Coming to Doncaster was not always a positive thing, but offers a chance of hope. Check out our pictures of what happened during this interesting chat!
