Amazing writers in Crew Godley ✍️

Wow! I am so proud of the crew today, getting smart to produce beautiful work. We ensured we reflected on our presentation, sitting our letters on the line, using finger spaces and the correct punctuation. It was a lot to think about! We wrote with pride and I couldn’t have been more prouder at our first attempt to produce display writing. Well done Crew Godley!

We are geographers 🌍

During our expedition lesson, we had to piece together an image which was the map of the world. However, this map had new information that we hadn’t seen before. We learned that the Earth is divided into 7 divisions which are:

North Pole (Arctic Circle)

Northern Hemisphere

Tropic of Cancer

Equator

Tropics of Capricorn

Southern Hemisphere

South Pole (Antarctic Circle)

We then split into groups to do some research on one of the divisions before feeding back to the rest of the crew.

Citizenship Crew 🏠🏡

This week in Citizenship Crew we have explored how to keep safe in the home. We used our prior knowledge to unpick what dangers there are in the home and how we can work together to overcome these. We identified that mostly, our homes are safe places. However, there are some objects that can be dangerous and can cause injuries around the home. We need to be aware of the dangers and how to keep ourselves safe.

The children were very articulate and identified many hazards, including how to keep safe in the kitchen – not cooking without an adult, never touching electrical items or drinking something we maybe unsure of. We had some fantastic collaboration and group discussions.

Learning about Hanukkah in KS1

Today, we continued to focus on Judaism. We were given some photos and completed a gallery walk to think about what we notice and what wonders we had.

We watched some videos to understand how Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah. We learned that they have specific food like potato cakes and doughnuts and most children receive toys called dreidls. Next week, we will design our own menorah.
